■ Project series ”the foundry”

“the foundry” is an exhibition series that introduces young artists who are challenging themselves to create expressions that combine traditional Japanese crafts with contemporary art.

Originally, Japanese art also had an aspect as a tool for daily life. As daily necessities and furnishings, they incorporated the season and thoughts into the room, and gently changed the daily life and enriched it. This series is an attempt to re-present the implementation for such a life in modern society in order to live a repetitive daily life richly and comfortably.
Ginza used to be a place where silver coins were minted in the Edo period and used as a lubricant for daily life.
Using traditional Japanese techniques and the expressiveness of contemporary art, we will once again create Japanese art as a form of beauty for a new purpose.
