The 5th Antique Watch Fair, the largest antique watch sales event in Japan, will be held in Ginza, Tokyo on August 3rd (Sat) and 4th (Sun).

LowBEAT, the industry's only antique watch magazine, published by Seeds Factory Co., Ltd., which publishes watch-related magazines and MOOKs and operates a watch news site, will hold its fifth sales event over two days, August 3rd (Sat) and 4th (Sun), 2024, with the aim of allowing people to experience the charm of antique watches in a more realistic way.

The event will mainly sell antique watches manufactured before the 1970s, ranging from famous brands such as Rolex and Omega to domestic brands such as Seiko. This fair will be attended by not only specialist stores from around the country, but also dealers, with over 20 stalls, making it the largest fair specializing in antique watches in Japan.

Scene from the previous event

In addition to antique watch stores, the watch brand "TAKANO," which was revived in 2024 by independent watchmaker Hajime Asaoka, will also be exhibiting for the first time. Takano was only active for a few years from the late 1950s, and is known to enthusiasts as a "phantom domestic brand." However, in that short period of time, it achieved great success, such as producing the world's thinnest wristwatch with three hands at the time, the "Chateau." The newly revived Takano model will also be on display at the venue.

Takano's "Chateau Nouvelle Chronometer"

At the TAKANO booth, a free copy of the magazine "PRECISION Vol.1: The New Takano Launches Chronometers" produced by Hajime Asaoka himself will be distributed (you will need to answer a questionnaire).

Also, on the second day, Sunday, August 4th, from 11:30am, there will be a talk event by Mr. Asaoka. He will talk about his thoughts on the revival of Takano and the episodes leading up to the birth of the new model.
