Limited event starting Friday, January 31st at METoA Ginza! “Don’t Stop the Excitement!! Frog General Election Valentine’s Day ver.”

Introducing a new "Valentine's Day x Sustainable" menu created by AI

Mitsubishi Electric Corporation (hereinafter, Mitsubishi Electric) is holding a "Love Annotation*2 Experience" with the theme of the "Frog Phenomenon*1" in love at the Mitsubishi Electric Event Square "METoA Ginza" in Ginza, Tokyo, to create an opportunity for more people to think about the future of living with AI. This time, from Friday, January 31, 2025 to Friday, February 14, 2025, we will expand the content as a Valentine's Day limited-time project "Don't Stop the Excitement!! Frog General Election Valentine's ver."
Additionally, the adjoining METoA Cafe & Kitchen will be offering a Valentine's Day exclusive menu item, Fair Trade Chocolate Milk, for a limited time.

Background to the event

METoA Ginza, which operates under the concept of "Exciting sustainability starts here," is currently holding the "How do you read this story? Manga x AI Exhibition," which considers the future of living with AI through manga works themed on ethics in a society where AI is widely used. In response to the high level of interest in AI ethics among visitors, particularly young people from Gen Z, the exhibition will be offering an experiential content called "Love Annotation Experience" from Thursday, October 31, 2024, with the theme of the "frog phenomenon," which is a hot topic among Gen Z.

The "My heart won't stop beating!? Frog Election Christmas ver.", which was held only during the Christmas period, invited stories of the "frog phenomenon" and received a lot of feedback, especially from young people. This time, as the "Don't stop your heart from beating!! Frog Election Valentine's ver.", we will select a theme from the stories collected during the Christmas period and expand our participatory romance content by allowing participants to vote (annotate) on whether to "turn into a frog or not." In addition to frog keychains, chocolates, and other goods, participants will receive a capsule containing an advice card from AI asking what to do to return their partner who has turned into a frog to their original state, chosen at random.

While Valentine's Day is a time when romance is in full swing, there may also be times when you feel a strangeness in your heart, such as when your partner's sudden actions cool you down. This event will touch on AI with the theme of such complex and realistic views on love, providing an opportunity for even those who are not familiar with AI to think about the future of living with AI.

In addition, the adjacent METoA Cafe & Kitchen will be offering "Fair Trade Chocolate Milk" for a limited time as a "Valentine's Day x Sustainable" menu item created by AI.

*1: The frog phenomenon is when someone you like becomes disillusioned after seeing a certain behavior from that person.
*2: Annotation is a process in AI development in which information known as tags or metadata is added to each piece of data, including text, audio, images, and videos.

An immersive experience that takes you into the world of manga! "How do you read this story? Manga x AI Exhibition"

This event is based on Mitsubishi Electric's "AI SPEC*3" manga initiative to consider AI ethics, and is based on the AI ethics policy set forth by Mitsubishi Electric, a company that develops and provides AI. It is an experiential event using projection mapping to think together with visitors about the future of living with AI, with the theme of "ethics" in the age of AI.
There will also be an exhibition of a manga drawn specifically for this event by Monogatari Lab, a scenario production team at ROBOT Inc., led by Director Norihiro Koizumi (best known for Chihayafuru), which explores the social issues that may arise as a result of the evolution of AI.

*3: AI SPEC is a project by the Mitsubishi Electric Integrated Design Laboratory that creates a forum for discussion so that each and every one of us can consider AI ethics as our own personal concern.

Event period: Wednesday, December 6, 2023

Related content: A "Romance Annotation Experience" that explores the criteria for the frog phenomenon in romantic scenes!

This event will provide an opportunity to learn about ethics and social issues surrounding the use of AI and think about how to interact with AI in the future through content such as a manga work themed on the strange feelings toward AI that are somewhat like love, and experience "annotation," an essential part of AI learning.
In the new content on the theme of the "frog phenomenon" in romance, which will be expanded from October 31, 2024, participants will be asked to judge whether or not their partner's behavior in a romantic scene will "turn them into a frog." The criteria for the frog phenomenon differ depending on each person's values, but what could happen in the future when the results of the majority are reflected in AI learning? After the experience, the difference in judgment between yourself and other participants will be numerically visualized, providing an opportunity to think about a world in which annotation results are reflected in AI learning.

<An example of the “frog phenomenon”>
・I keep calling for waiters at restaurants but they just ignore me. Will I turn into a frog? Or not?
・He always leads the conversation to a boastful story about himself, no matter what the topic. Will he turn into a frog? Or not?
