[About "Eiko Ishioka I Design GINZA"]

The "Eiko Ishioka I Design" exhibition, which began at the Kitakyushu Municipal Museum of Art in September 2023, traveled to five museums: the Museum of Modern Art, Ibaraki, Hyogo Prefectural Museum of Art, Iwami Art Museum, Shimane, and Toyama Prefectural Museum of Art, before concluding in June 2025.

The exhibitions "Eiko Ishioka: Can Graphic Design Survive?" at the Ginza Graphic Gallery (ggg) and "SURVIVE – Can Design Survive?" at Kyoto ddd Gallery, held in 2020-21, along with the Eiko Ishioka exhibition at the Museum of Contemporary Art Tokyo, were highly acclaimed and attracted large numbers of visitors. Eiko Ishioka (1938-2012) is widely known as an art director and designer who worked on a global stage. Along with her work, her words as an artist are also deeply inspiring. Many visitors, regardless of age or occupation, were touched by her passion, which she poured her whole heart and soul into expressing throughout her life.

Therefore, the traveling exhibition "Eiko Ishioka I Design" displays representative works from her graphic designs from the 1960s to 1980s, ranging from advertising campaigns to more personal exhibition plans, book designs, and artwork, along with words left by Ishioka. It could be said that the works that fascinate us across the ages could only have been created in that era, and the "red tent" has been incorporated as a key element to give a sense of the atmosphere of that era.
This time, MMM will be showcasing a small-scale reproduction of some of the exhibits, as well as documenting the traveling exhibition through photographs, conveying the essence of his passion and creativity, which remains undiminished no matter the circumstances.
