The Cartier Ginza 4-chome Boutique, which embodies the spirit of Cartier's iconic Panthère and adds new brilliance to the special district of Ginza, Tokyo, had its grand opening on Friday, September 19th.

The boutique, which boasts the largest total floor space in Asia and the fifth in the world to feature a "residence," is the first in Japan and is decorated throughout with works by Japanese artists and a unique Japanese aesthetic, creating a space that beautifully combines Cartier's outstanding savoir-faire with a rich international sensibility. The Panthère, which combines strength and elegance, welcomes you to this one-of-a-kind place.

The facade of the Cartier Ginza 4-chome boutique embodies Cartier's refinement and endless craftsmanship. Its smooth curves, contrasting with the linearity of the surrounding cityscape, create a simple and elegant presence. The design, reminiscent of a jewelry box, gives the exterior a sense of depth and height, heightening the sense of anticipation for the sophisticated world that lies beyond the boutique. The geometric pattern of linked fan shapes is inspired by the "seigaiha" (waves of the blue ocean), a pattern that has long been used in traditional Japanese clothing and artwork. Evoking the gentle cascades of waves and the vast ocean, the pattern is also popular as an auspicious motif that embodies wishes for prosperity and the future.

Following on from the Cartier Shinsaibashi Boutique, Klein Dytham architecture (KDa) designed this facade. KDa has gained international acclaim for its unique designs that blend tradition and innovation, and the facade of the Ginza 4-chome Boutique also reflects KDa's vision of pursuing the possibilities of materials and valuing harmony with nature.

Moinart Bétaille, led by architect Bruno Moinart, who has been working on Cartier boutique interiors since 2002, was in charge of the interior design of the Ginza 4-chome boutique. Reflecting the latest boutique concepts, Moinart Bétaille, who has also worked on boutique interiors in major cities around the world, has created a bright and elegant space by fusing local culture and nature with French elegance. The Ginza 4-chome boutique also embodies their aesthetic sense in every single material and detail.

1st floor Jewelery & Watches, Accessories & Gift, Fragrances, Care Service

Passing through the illuminated façade, one enters an elegant space that embodies the spirit of the Maison's iconic "Panthère." The art wall adorning this floor depicts a "Panthère" walking through a forest. Created by washi artist Eriko Horiki, this piece is crafted from four layers of washi paper. The delicate texture of the paper and the shimmering light create a poetic space where depth and transparency intersect. The ceiling, designed with inspiration from origami, and natural wood reminiscent of traditional Japanese houses, emanates warmth and serenity throughout the space. The stone floor features a parquet pattern borrowed from the Palace of Versailles. In contrast to the Japanese elements, this design evokes Cartier's status as a prestigious French maison. Near the elegant staircase, a quick care service bar, designed with inspiration from the organic form of orchid petals, a symbol of prosperity, provides a convenient and comfortable experience for guests.

2nd floor Diamonds & Bridal, Accessories & Gift

On the second floor, an origami-inspired ceiling resembles a kite soaring through the sky. This ceiling design is the floor's central element, with curved, undulating, and oval panels blending together to create a playful space. The smooth, rounded shapes contrast vividly with the straight lines of the columns that run through the floor. On this floor, visitors can leisurely browse the timeless diamond creations, bridal, and accessory and gift collections. The floor panels are decorated with ginkgo leaf motifs, a symbol of serenity and vitality.
The Japonais Salon features a work by artist Ryo Hikosaka. This piece is inspired by a 1907 diamond brooch featuring abstract geometric patterns, a hallmark of the "Modern Style" advocated by Louis Cartier in the early 20th century. At the time, Louis Cartier was one of the earliest designers of what would later be known as Art Deco, a style that contrasted with the opulent floral patterns of Art Nouveau. Hikosaka's piece also draws inspiration from Japan, with its motif reminiscent of the "seigaiha" (waves of the blue ocean). The gleam of the metal evokes the surface of water while also embodying the sparkle of the diamonds used in Cartier jewelry.

3rd floor Jewelery &Watches, Fragrances, Care Service

Going up another floor, a tranquil space reminiscent of a garden unfolds. This floor is home to jewelry and watch creations centered around iconic collections, as well as a wide range of fragrance collections. The ceiling is inspired by the timelessly beloved "Trinity" ring and features a motif of interwoven curves. As you progress through this soft and light floor, various spaces unfold before you. This includes a space unique to the Ginza 4-Chome boutique, where the Maison's fragrances, the invisible jewels of jewelry, are gathered together, as well as an area dedicated to care services. The floor is also spaciously set up with "Peacock," a salon designed with a peacock theme, offering a relaxing and comfortable time.

4th floor “La Résidence”, High Jewelery Salon

The top-floor Residences are private spaces worthy of a luxury maison, offering the ultimate in hospitality for exclusive, special occasions. The ceiling, reminiscent of a traditional Japanese umbrella, envelops the entire space, creating a sense of security. The design, comprised of dark wood ribs and white, harmonizes opposing elements: smoothness and texture, shadows, tradition and modernity, inorganic and organic, straight lines and curves. The vibrant colors of the carpet and chairs add a touch of visual delight to the warm and relaxing atmosphere of the entire floor. The Grand Salon, furnished with dining tables and sofas, overlooks a lush garden beyond the glass windows, creating a sense of tranquility and comfort that will transport you away from the hustle and bustle of the city. This lush garden harmonizes with the Grand Salon, which is carpeted in a similar color, creating a visual unity.

Atelier del Boca has been creating plaster art walls for Cartier for many years. Using techniques passed down through generations since the 19th century, they skillfully incorporate local cultures and symbols to depict the Panthère as he ventures to boutiques around the world. This latest piece, which stands out in the Tutti Frutti Salon, depicts the Panthère from atop a cherry blossom tree, overlooking Mount Fuji and Tokyo.

To celebrate the opening of the Ginza 4-chome boutique, 11 pieces from the "Cartier Collection" will be exhibited.
