[Ginza Wako] “Nagamori Sokyu Calligraphy Exhibition: Teacher’s Gratitude, Light and Wind” will be held from July 16th (Thursday).

From July 16th (Thursday) to July 26th (Sunday), Seiko House Hall will host the second exhibition of calligrapher Sokyu Nagamori's work at Wako, his first in seven years.

The theme of this exhibition is "Gratitude to Teachers: Light and Wind."
"When I come across words I want to write, I keep them in mind and expand on the image by drawing them in the sky. 'Learn from the classics, create freely and always be creative, never settle down' is a teaching I received from my mentors, Kaneko Ōtei and Sadayoshi, and it is the source of my courage," says Nagamori.
The exhibition features modern poetry and calligraphy, Chinese characters, mixed writing with Western characters, and works adorned with watercolors, as well as smaller pieces that can be displayed in frames or scrolls, showcasing a wide range of writings including poetry and haiku.
Please take a look at Mr. Nagamori's free-spirited calligraphy, which, while rooted in the tradition of calligraphy, possesses a spirit that is not bound by preconceived notions and a sense of dynamism that resonates with the hearts of viewers.

◎A gallery talk by Mr. Soukyu Nagamori will be held.
