Seiko Museum Ginza will hold a special exhibition for the summer holidays of 2026: “Learn about the history of clocks and make clocks that utilize the power of nature!”

Seiko Museum Ginza will be holding a special summer exhibition during the summer holidays that elementary school children and their families can enjoy.

In today's world, everyone can easily find the exact time no matter where they are. We may not often take this for granted in our daily lives. But what would happen if there were no clocks in the world?
Why not reflect on time and clocks while learning how humans understood the passage of time and the time of day before the invention of clocks?
During the exhibition period, we will be holding a workshop where you can make a "water clock," an instrument used before the invention of mechanical clocks, using readily available materials. It's perfect for a summer vacation project.

Watchmaking Class

We will be holding a watchmaking workshop on the following dates and times during the special exhibition.
●Dates: July 31st (Fri), August 14th (Fri), August 21st (Fri), 2026
Twice daily: 10:30 AM – 12:30 PM, 2:30 PM – 4:30 PM
●Target audience: Children in grades 4-6 of elementary school and their guardians ●Capacity: 10 parent-child pairs per session (1 parent-child pair: 1 child + 1 adult)
