The 53rd Shinbashi Nadeshiko-kai, a bridge to the Higashi Odori, featuring young geisha from Shinbashi passing down their art, will be held in Ginza on Wednesday, October 7th.

A total of six performances of traditional dance and Kyogen (traditional Japanese comic theater). Geisha who will carry on the traditions of the next generation will showcase the fruits of their daily training.

The 53rd Shinbashi Nadeshiko-kai Convention will be held on Wednesday, October 7, 2026 at the Ginza Blossom Chuo Kaikan Hall (2-15-6 Ginza, Chuo-ku, Tokyo).

The 53rd Shinbashi Nadeshiko Association meeting will be held on Wednesday, October 7th in Ginza.

The Shinbashi Nadeshiko-kai was established shortly after the war as a stepping stone to the Higashi Odori dance.
This is a very important event that can be considered the foundation of Higashi Odori.
Young people take center stage in their efforts to perform traditional dance and music.
Senior members play a role in teaching and performing in order to pass on the art form.
Please come and see the art form that has been passed down in Shinbashi, along with the growth of the next generation of young talent, on the stage in Ginza.

About the Shinbashi geisha district

The Shinbashi geisha district originated in the late Edo period near what is now Ginza 8-chome and developed into one of Japan's leading social hubs during the Meiji era. Amidst gatherings of political, business, and cultural figures, Shinbashi geishas honed their skills under top-class masters, earning the reputation of "Shinbashi, the land of art." Today, the Shinbashi geisha district stretches from Higashi-Ginza to Tsukiji, consisting of restaurants and geisha houses. Geishas perform dances and traditional Japanese music at banquets in these restaurants, while continuing to practice and pass on traditional arts and restaurant culture through their daily training.

Higashi Odori is

The Higashi Odori began in 1925 (Taisho 14) as the inaugural performance at the Shinbashi Enbujo Theatre. After an interruption during the war, it was revived in 1948 (Showa 23) and has continued to be a grand stage for Shinbashi geisha. It is a rare opportunity, held once a year, for the general public to enjoy the dances and traditional Japanese music of Shinbashi geisha, which are usually performed in restaurants. In recent years, the Shinbashi Enbujo Theatre has been transformed into a grand restaurant, and the event has broadly introduced the culture of the Shinbashi geisha district, including the food and sake served at the restaurant, as well as the stage itself, and has also taken on the role of a seasonal tradition.
