A group exhibition featuring works by Mikiko Nakano (glass), Jun Matsumura (glass), Yuko Watanabe (glass), Mayumi Hamano (ceramics), and Kiyoko Morioka (ceramics).
From July 2nd (Thursday) to July 12th (Sunday), Seiko House Hall will host an exhibition featuring the works of five glass and ceramic artists, whose pieces evoke a cool and tranquil atmosphere as we head into the height of summer.
Glass artist Mikiko Nakano creates vessels that incorporate delicate depictions of familiar plants and everyday scenes. The depicted landscapes seem to quietly breathe within the glass, interacting with the light.
Jun Matsumura superimposes nostalgic scenes and inner images into layers of glass. His expressions, which draw the viewer's gaze deeper into the artwork, possess a narrative quality that touches the corners of memory.
Yuko Watanabe creates a soft, watercolor-like world of colors by combining colorful glass rods and canes. The way the colors spread out in a blurred manner evokes a sense of gentle time passing.
Ceramic artist Mayumi Hamano uses techniques such as thread cutting and mold shaping, along with underglaze blue and overglaze enamel inspired by antique Imari porcelain, to imbue her vessels with soft undulations and rich expressions. The forms, bearing the traces of her hands, exude an intimate and warm atmosphere.
Kiyoko Morioka expresses a world of white and gray with serene grace through her refined forms and polished textures. Her works, in which form and texture are integrated, bring a clear sense of tension to the space.
Each material and expression resonates subtly in the depths of the silence, without uttering a word, leaving a faint impression within the viewer.
Enjoy the subtle presence that arises in the midsummer air, and the lingering emotional resonance that follows.
