December 1st (Wednesday) -December 25th (Saturday), 2021
Among the eternal themes of Disney works, "animals", a full-scale exhibition that approaches the charm of Disney's animal works, with the theme of "dogs and cats", which are like a family closest to humans, " "Disney Cats & Dogs Exhibition" will be held from December 1st (Wednesday) to December 25th (Saturday), 2021 at Event Square on the 8th floor of Matsuya Ginza.
Taking the opportunity of the movie "Bambi", Disney challenged the difficult task of "expressing animals emotionally while drawing them realistically." I kept animals in the studio, studied the movement of the skeleton and muscles, and thoroughly pursued reality. Throughout the story, he succeeded in drawing an expressive character that the audience embraced, and produced numerous animal works throughout his life. At the venue, we will also introduce the evolution and innovation of animal animation by Disney and the history of trial and error to express animals emotionally. From representative works such as Mickey's companion "Pluto", "101 Doggy", "Doggy Story", "The Aristocats" to exhibitions that introduce impressive dog and cat characters among Disney works, it is like a Disney work The contents of the exhibition are as exciting as if you were in.
This exhibition is a valuable digitized art with the full cooperation of the Animation Research Library (ARL), which holds, digitizes and archives all materials related to all Disney cartoons. More than 300 works will be exhibited. Original drawings such as pastel and watercolor are fragile and refrain from being taken out, but many works that are difficult to see because they are digital will be exhibited. In addition, one of the highlights of this exhibition is the attractiveness of digitized art works, such as being able to see the details of the work by digitally reproducing small and delicate works larger than the original.
Walt Disney is known as a big dog lover and has spent his childhood with his family as well as his family. In this exhibition, which has the theme of "dogs and cats" that are familiar to everyone, you can feel deep love and familiarity with the gestures and facial expressions of the characters drawn in the work. Enjoy the "Disney Cats & Dogs Exhibition" as if you were taking a walk.

■ About the highlights of the work
Mickey's partner "Pluto" is the fun of Disney's early gag animation, "Lady and the Tramp" is the romance of Lady and Trump, and "101 Doggy" is the devil of Cruella. Take a look at the thrilling escape drama that is approaching, and see the beauty of the streets of Paris and the cuteness of the kitten Marie in "The Aristocats". In addition, you can't miss the exhibition that introduces the most impressive dog and cat characters in Disney works.
Mickey's buddy Pluto
Pluto is the only non-speaking character among Mickey's friends. That's why it always entertains us with its rich facial expressions and big actions that use the whole body. Pluto, who has a very innocent and friendly personality, can be said to be a character with a love for the dogs that Wolt has spent with him since childhood.
The secret story behind the production of a famous scene that shines in the history of anime
It is an important scene where Lady and Trump fall in love, but at first no one was confident that it would work. Is the scene where two dogs chew spaghetti directly at the back door of Tony's shop without using a fork really romantic? It's an important night for the two, and it should never be a farce or a gag. Disney animators tackle that challenge. As you all know, sincere and delicate depictions resonated with the audience as a famous scene in the history of animation along with the famous song "Bellanotte".
101 animals run around the screen
In addition to the modern drama where TV and cars appear on the stage in London, it is Disney's ambitious work in which 101 Dalmatians run around the screen. The Xerox process was used to animate 101 Dalmatians with black and white spots. By transferring the animator's hand-drawn original image directly to the cell without manually tracing it, we succeeded in mass-producing the cell while keeping the lively original image as it is.
