Special program before the grand opening: Ginza Sony Park (under construction) x YOASOBI October 5th (Sat) – 14th (Mon, holiday), 2024

Ginza Sony Park was completed in August and is currently under construction before its grand opening. YOASOBI was one of the first to take notice of Ginza Sony Park. Inspired by the low-rise concrete building with its bold atrium space, we will be holding a limited-time program called "YOASOBI KEEP OUT GALLERY PRODUCED BY VI/NYL." A part of Ginza Sony Park, which is currently under construction, will be opened to the public for a special photo exhibition held in collaboration with YOASOBI. The exhibition will run from October 5th (Sat) to 14th (Mon, holiday), 2024, and admission will require prior application.

Ginza Sony Park is a rare exposed concrete building in the Ginza area, with a distinctive atrium space that seamlessly connects to the intersection. With five floors above ground (with a rooftop) and four below, it is deliberately built at half the height of a standard building in Ginza, creating space and a new landscape in the densely populated city as "Ginza Park."

One of the first to take notice of Ginza Sony Park (under construction) was YOASOBI, which will celebrate its fifth anniversary this October. Their first solo live performance, "KEEP OUT THEATER," held in 2021, was streamed from the construction site of the former Milanoza Theater (now Tokyu Kabukicho Tower), which garnered a great response. This time, "YOASOBI KEEP OUT GALLERY PRODUCED BY VI/NYL" is also a photo exhibition created by sneaking into Ginza Sony Park, where the "construction site" still remains. It is a special program born from the playfulness of both YOASOBI and Ginza Sony Park, which will open part of the building before its grand opening.

Visitors who apply in advance (first come, first served) will be able to see the shots and special movie that will be featured in the magazine "VI/NYL SUPER YOASOBI 5TH ANNIVERSARY BOOK," scheduled for release on October 30th, scattered across the exposed concrete floor of the venue. In addition, the "YOASOBI" sign, familiar from concerts, will be installed in the bold atrium space above ground that connects to the Sukiyabashi intersection.

Please come and see the new space currently under construction where Ginza Sony Park and YOASOBI come together.

■ About the Ginza Sony Park Project

The Ginza Sony Park project is a project to rebuild the Sony Building, which has been a part of the Ginza area for over 50 years, with the concept of "a facility open to the city."

The Sony Building was built in 1966 by Akio Morita, one of the founders of Sony.
There was a 33-square-meter public space there that Morita called the "Ginza Garden," a symbol of "a facility open to the town." We wanted to carry on the founder's vision for the next 50 years, so we have been working on this project to expand the "Ginza Garden" into a "Ginza Park," creating a new rhythm for the town, making it more accessible to visitors and offering a variety of ways to enjoy it.

In order to keep the rebuilding process unique and worthy of Sony's name, the company adopted a two-stage process based on an innovative idea. In the first stage, instead of immediately constructing a new building, the company carried out an unprecedented experimental attempt to turn the site into a park while the building was being demolished (August 2018 to September 2021). As a result, the park has been visited by a total of 8.54 million people over a period of about three years, including during the COVID-19 pandemic.

After that, demolition and new construction will resume as the second phase, with the final form of the project, Ginza Sony Park, scheduled for completion in August 2024 and its grand opening in January 2025.
