Ginza Wako will be holding a solo exhibition by copperplate print artist Yoko Yamamoto, "50th Anniversary Yoko Yamamoto Exhibition: Poetry of Love," at the Seiko House Hall from Thursday, February 13th to Monday, February 24th.
Wako will be hosting the fourth solo exhibition by copperplate print artist Yoko Yamamoto. Commemorating 50 years in the art world, this exhibition has the theme of "prayer and healing" and is an exhibition that seeks inner tranquility by tracing the works that express the layered forms of love, from the series "Angel's Eye" created at the 25th anniversary turning point to her latest work "Ballad of Sad Cafe."

Profile of Yoko Yamamoto
Born in Saitama Prefecture in 1952, raised in Osaka Prefecture.
After graduating from the Department of Western Painting at Kyoto City University of Arts, he won the Seibu Prize at the Japan Contemporary Print Exhibition in 1978, and the Kodansha Publishing Culture Award Book Design Award for "L's Gift" (Shueisha) in 1992. In 2007, he received the Kyoto Prefecture Cultural Award Lifetime Achievement Award, and in 2013, he was awarded the Kyoto City Cultural Merit Award.
Major exhibitions include "Yoko Yamamoto's Art Amusement Park" in 2002-2003 (Isetan Museum of Art, and travelling to 10 other museums nationwide), "Yoko Yamamoto's Princesses" in 2009 (Agenzia04, Bologna, Italy), and "Girls of Wonderland – Yoko Yamamoto's Wonderland" in 2009-2010 (Fukuyama Museum of Art, Museum of Modern Art, Saitama), among many others.
He has established his own unique world of copperplate prints with urbane, light and stylish colors. He also fuses paintings with music and poetry, and engages in collaborations that transcend genres. He has also worked on the cover designs and illustrations of many other books. Furthermore, since 2005, he has been working on "hospital art," expanding his field of activity to include creating murals in medical facilities.
