Shifting from “watching” to “feeling” movies—An experiential film festival that brings the city to life! “HIBIYA CINEMA FESTIVAL 2025”

Enjoy an evolved movie experience where the entire venue will sing along and get excited! Satellite venues such as Hibiya Park will also be added, providing a new way to enjoy movies throughout the entire Hibiya area!
Period: Friday, October 10th to Sunday, October 26th, 2025

Tokyo Midtown Hibiya will be holding the outdoor movie event "HIBIYA CINEMA FESTIVAL 2025" from Friday, October 10th to Sunday, October 26th, 2025, proposing new ways to enjoy movies not just through "watching" them, but also through "experiences."

This year marks the 8th anniversary of this event, with a cumulative total of approximately 5 million visitors up until last year. Continuing from last year, this year's event will continue to feature the "Nagare Cinema" concept, with a host of new content added to offer a new cinematic experience. This year, the seating has been renovated, allowing viewers to "relax" while watching on the artificial turf that covers the entire plaza. The event area has also been expanded, with Hibiya Park and Hibiya OKUROJI added as new satellite venues.

In addition, the popular "Day Screen" content, which screens classic films daily during the day, will feature a weekend project for seven days only on weekends and holidays, where visitors can "experience" the world of film based on a different theme each time. Everyone will join in, singing along and moving around, with some even getting excited, providing a special movie experience that goes beyond just watching. Additionally, the "Night Screen" in the evening will feature a talk session with the director. A special exhibition in conjunction with the Tokyo International Film Festival (TIFF), which will begin after the event, will also be held, so be sure to enjoy Tokyo Midtown Hibiya, where the entire building will be immersed in film.

[ RENEWAL ] The spectator seats have been renewed!
The artificial turf that covers the entire square allows you to relax and enjoy yourself as you like.

While you would normally watch a movie in a movie theater or other quiet indoor setting, we offer a special movie experience where you can enjoy the outdoors while enjoying food and drinks, chatting with friends, relaxing in a picnic-like atmosphere, or whatever else is possible. This year, the Cinema Festival venue has been renovated with a new style, allowing you to enjoy your own time while "relaxing" on artificial turf. We also have items available for rental, such as cushions and tables, to make your movie-watching experience even more comfortable. Enjoy a different movie experience in a relaxing space that suits your preferences.

■About the Women Reporters Film Awards (formerly the Women Reporters & Writers Film Awards)

The "Women's Journalists' Film Awards" was newly established by Eican!, a group working to "revitalize the film industry, which has been hit hard by the COVID-19 pandemic," and "eliminate the gender gap in the film industry." In an effort to address the persistent gender gap that persists not only within film production but also among film writers and film award winners, film writer and columnist Shiho Atsumi and film personality Satori Ito launched the "Women's Journalists' Film Awards," an all-female jury. The awards are based on "films that empower women," and award winners are selected from films released between April of the previous year and March of the current year for the categories of Best Picture, Best Director, Best Actress, Best Actor, Best Newcomer, and Best Foreign Language Film.

■About the Toronto Japanese Film Festival

The Toronto Japanese Film Festival (TJFF) is a film festival organized by the Japanese Canadian Cultural Centre (JCCC) in Toronto, Canada, and this year marks its 14th anniversary. The TJFF aims to introduce knowledge of Japanese culture to the general public by screening popular Japanese films that have received high praise from audiences and film critics in Japan, as well as award-winning works at international film festivals and at the Japan Academy Prize. Most films are North American, Canadian, or Toronto premieres, with directors and actors from Japan taking to the stage to promote the films. In 2025, 24 films were screened in June.
