Event Overview

Shigeru Uchida, a leading Japanese interior designer, and Božek Šipek, a leading Czech architect and designer, have been close friends for many years. In 2006, Uchida visited Šipek's workshop in the Czech Republic to design tea ceremony utensils and other items, and the two have continued to communicate with each other.
In addition to the glass works of both artists, this exhibition will also feature a special display of a portion of the ceiling decoration from their 2007 collaborative work, "MOON GLOW," located on the top floor (23rd floor) of the Oriental Hotel Hiroshima restaurant.

MOON GLOW, which opened in 2007 as an Italian restaurant at the Oriental Hotel Hiroshima, was designed by Shigeru Uchida and features impressive walls in deep blue and yellow reminiscent of the night sky. The ceiling is decorated with artwork by Bozek Sipek, and tableware featuring glassware and bags is displayed.

At the time of installation, Schipek, who had visited Hiroshima specifically for this project, assembled each piece on the spot, and then arranged them together with Uchida.
Due to the renovation of the venue, the "MOON GLOW" ceiling decoration, which is no longer on display, will be exhibited specially with the cooperation of Oriental Hotel Hiroshima.

Please enjoy this performance of beauty and creativity by these two giants who have produced countless masterpieces.
