“Kumamoto Prefecture, the Food Capital” takes over Tokyo’s Ginza! “Kumamoto-mon x Tokyo Ginza Takeover” to be held

Approximately 60 famous Ginza stores and department stores team up to promote the appeal of Kumamoto's food, sake, and culture

Kumamoto Prefecture, in collaboration with Kumamoto DMC Co., Ltd., will hold the Kumamoto Fair "Kumamotomon x Tokyo Ginza Jack" with department stores and restaurants in the Ginza area of Tokyo for two weeks from Wednesday, January 21st to Tuesday, February 3rd, 2026. This year, the third year of the event, will bring together and promote the appeal of food, sake, culture, and other things that Kumamoto Prefecture, the "Cuisine Capital of Food," is proud of through collaboration with various stores in Ginza, including Matsuya Ginza, with which the prefecture concluded a comprehensive partnership agreement in July last year.

What is "Kumamotomon x Tokyo Ginza Jack"?

This food festival project aims to match hidden regional food with the powerful information dissemination and customer attraction power of urban areas, creating new distribution and buzz for local products by calling local products that are packed with the charm of Kumamoto Prefecture "Kumamoto-mon" and collaborating with department stores and restaurants. This project is a popular series of events that are held every year in major cities across Japan, including Ginza, Tokyo, Tenjin, Fukuoka, and Umeda, Osaka.

1. Promoting food and local specialties in Ginza

We will promote the appeal of Kumamoto food from Ginza, Tokyo to the rest of the country, aiming to increase awareness and develop and expand sales channels.

◇ "Kumamoto Fair" held at long-established department store Matsuya Ginza

In addition to the Kumamoto Mon Gourmet Fair, which will feature 11 businesses from the prefecture, there will also be a Kumamoto Prefecture Sake Fair, limited-time products using ingredients from Kumamoto Prefecture, and an exhibition and sale of traditional crafts.

Approximately 60 famous stores in Ginza will offer special menus using ingredients from Kumamoto Prefecture and Kuma Shochu.

◇ Fair held at Ginza Kumamotokan and sale of limited edition products

The fair will also be held at the Ginza Kumamotokan, the prefecture's antenna shop, and will sell products supervised by "famous Ginza shops," such as "Igusa Monaka Shokuninoma" and "Citrus Yogurt Sandwich," as well as products that have won the "Kumamoto Good Product Award"*.

(*) The Kumamoto Good Product Award is an award sponsored by the Kumamoto Prefecture Chamber of Commerce and Industry Federation to discover "hidden gems" that utilize ingredients produced in the prefecture and support the expansion of sales channels.

2. Special collaborations with long-established and popular Ginza businesses! Kumamon Ginza-exclusive collaboration items, etc.

We will carry out collaborative projects with companies that have stores in Ginza, Tokyo, to promote the attractions of Kumamoto from various angles.

<Ginza Taya>

We will be collaborating with Ginza Taya, a long-established store founded 120 years ago, to sell Kumamon ties.
This special collection features four designs with motifs of rush grass, Mount Aso, semiconductors, and Ginza, all woven with Kumamon's playful side. The high-quality weaving and design that only Ginza Taya can offer will add a touch of elegance and familiarity to your chest.
Those who purchase the collaboration tie will receive a limited edition sticker on a first-come, first-served basis!

<UNIQLO TOKYO>

New Kumamon stamps will be available exclusively at UNIQLO TOKYO and the UNIQLO Ginza store, and RE.UNIQLO STUDIO will begin offering Kumamon embroidery services. UNIQLO TOKYO will also be hosting a variety of special events, including sales of locally grown flowers and flowers at UNIQLO FLOWER, flower arranging classes, bouquet sales with Kumamon wrapping paper, gifting of Kumamon charms, and the sale of famous sweets at UNIQLO COFFEE!

<MUJI Ginza>

There will be an experience of painting traditional Kumamoto toys called "Shimoura Doro Toys" and sales (Sunday, January 25th). In addition, there will be a "Tsunagari Market" (Wednesday, January 21st to Sunday, January 25th) featuring delicious foods from Yamato Town, special menus using ingredients from the prefecture at restaurants in the building, and fruit and vegetables for sale.

<Kubo Wood Tatami Tokyo>

We will be selling mini tatami mats with Kumamon illustrations, made using the prefecture's finest tatami matting material, "Hino Sarasa."

3. A special event will be held at Ginza Sony Park!

Ginza Sony Park, a facility of the Sony Group with a semiconductor production base in Kumamoto Prefecture and adjacent to the Ginza Kumamoto Building, will be holding a special event to express gratitude to those both in Japan and overseas who have supported the creative recovery efforts following repeated disasters, such as the Kumamoto earthquake and the heavy rain disaster in August 2025.

The event will feature a special pre-event that will serve as a precursor to the "ONE PIECE Kumamoto Reconstruction Project 10th Anniversary Exhibition," which will be held in Kumamoto from March 20th, as well as a talk event where various perspectives will be discussed about the rush grass and tatami mats that Kumamoto and Yatsushiro are proud of, including the current state and appeal of the production area and future possibilities.In addition, Casual Dining 1/2 on the third basement floor will be offering a Kumamoto collaboration menu, making this an event where you can experience Kumamoto throughout the entire building.
