[Ginza Wako] “Brilliant Crafts Exhibition: The Internationality of Ceramics” to be held from Thursday, February 19th

An exhibition featuring four overseas-born ceramic artists who are based in Japan.

Wako Ginza will be holding an exhibition at the Seiko House Hall from Thursday, February 19th to Sunday, March 1st, 2026, featuring works by four internationally active ceramic artists who are based in Japan.
Peter Harmon, a porcelain artist and tea master from Tanba Sasayama City; Agnes Huss, who captivates viewers with her works created using unique techniques; Choi Jae-hoon, who creates intricate and beautiful pieces rich in design; and Ha Myung-gu, who creates unique characters that seem to exist somewhere between humans and living things. Please come and see this exhibition, where the different sensibilities of each of these four artists resonate with each other in their works, including vases, tea ware, and unique objects.

◎A gallery talk will be held by project supervisor Kazuko Tonodate and the four exhibiting artists.

Peter HAMANN Biography
Born in Nebraska, USA in 1956 (raised in Iowa)
1978 Graduated from Graceland University, Department of Fine Arts (USA)
1985 Graduated from the Department of Ceramic Art Institute attached to Tekisui Museum of Art. Became independent and opened a kiln in Tanba Sasayama, Hyogo Prefecture
1996 "Rin" Contemporary Ceramic Art (Shiga Ceramic Cultural Park Ceramic Art Museum)
2022 Mitsui Golden Takumi Award Finalist
Selected for the 2025 Japan Traditional Crafts Exhibition (25th time)
Exhibited at the Hyogo Ceramic Art Museum special exhibition "TANBA NOW⁺" (2nd time)
Currently a full member of the Japan Crafts Association and a director of the Kyoto Craft Artists Association.

Agnes HUSZ Biography
Born in Mohács, Hungary in 1961
1990: Completed Master's degree in Ceramics at Moholy-Nagy State University of Arts and Crafts (Budapest, Hungary)
1993: Opened kiln in Nagano Prefecture
2023: 15th Contemporary Tea Ceremony Exhibition TOKI Oribe Grand Prize (Toki City, Gifu Prefecture)
2024 Taiwan Ceramic Art Biennale Jury Recommendation Award (Taipei, Taiwan)
2025: Finalist for the Loewe Foundation Craft Prize 2025. Currently a member of the International Academy of Ceramics (IAC).

Public collections: Toki City Mino Ceramic History Museum (Toki City, Gifu Prefecture), Josai University Mizuta Museum of Art (Sakado City, Saitama Prefecture), Budapest Museum of Applied Arts (Budapest, Hungary), Changchun Museum of Contemporary Ceramic Art (Changchun, China), etc.

Choi Jae-hoon (Choi Jae-hoon) Biography
Born in Gunwi County, North Gyeongsang Province, South Korea in 1965
1990 Graduated from the Department of Industrial Art, Keimyung University College of Art (Korea)
1993 Graduated from the Graduate School of Fine Arts, Aichi Prefectural University of Fine Arts and Music, majoring in design, and studied under Masahiro Mori. Joined INAX Corporation (now LIXIL), where he worked on product design and advanced design (until 2021).
2002: Grand Prize winner in the ceramic design category at the 6th International Ceramics Exhibition, Mino
2003: Bronze Award in the Living Ceramics category at the 2nd Gyeonggi World Ceramic Biennale (Korea)
2024: 2024 Gyeonggi Ceramic Biennale GCB Award (Korea)
Selected for the 6th Kanazawa World Craft Triennale in 2025. Currently Professor of Ceramics, Department of Design and Crafts, Faculty of Fine Arts, Aichi Prefectural University of the Arts.

Public Collection: Gifu Prefectural Museum of Modern Ceramic Art (Tajimi City, Gifu Prefecture), Korea Ceramic Foundation (Gyeonggi Ceramic Museum), etc.

Ha Myung-gu's biography
Born in 1983 in Gyeonggi-do, South Korea
2009 Graduated from the Department of Ceramics, College of Art and Design, Kyung Hee University (Korea)
2012 Completed exchange program at Royal College of Art (UK) majoring in ceramics and glass
2013 Graduated from Kyoto City University of Arts, Graduate School of Fine Arts, Master's Program in Crafts
2017: Created "Popotan", the official mascot for Asaka City, Saitama Prefecture
2023 Special Collaborative Exhibition at the Korean Cultural Center of the Korean Embassy in Japan: "The Kawa Masao Collection: The Attendants – Egami Etsu and Kawa Myokyu" (Tokyo)
2024 Graduated from the Doctoral Program in the Graduate School of Tokyo Zokei University (PhD in Art and Design)
Special Exhibition at the Korean Cultural Center of the Korean Embassy in Japan, "Marunuma Art Park Residence 5th Anniversary Korea-Japan Exchange Exhibition" (Tokyo)
Currently working at Marunuma Art Park in Asaka, Saitama Prefecture. Coordinator of Japan-Korea Exchange at the Korea Craft and Design Foundation, and part-time lecturer at Tokyo Zokei University.
