Named after the year 1864, when Shiseido founder Yushin Fukuhara departed from Tateyama for Edo, the restaurant expresses the spirit of "the origin of travel" through its cuisine and atmosphere. It offers a personalized dining experience that adds color to the journey of "life."
Fukuhara Corporation has opened a modern French restaurant, "1864." (Ichihachirokuyon), in Ginza 7-chome, Tokyo.
In 1864, Shiseido's founder, Yoshinobu Fukuhara, traveled from Tateyama in Awa Province to Edo (present-day Tokyo) to study Western pharmacy. He later established Shiseido, the first privately run Western-style pharmacy, in Ginza. This company has since grown into the cosmetics company we see today.
In Ginza, the birthplace of the company, Yuichi Fukuhara, the great-grandson of Yushin, has opened a new modern French restaurant, naming it "1864," the "origin of travel."
The chef is Izumi Yamashita, who served as head chef for many years at the three-Michelin-starred grand restaurant "L'Osier".
We offer a course menu featuring fresh seafood from the waters around Japan, including abalone from Boso Peninsula and spiny lobster, along with seasonal vegetables, all delicately prepared using French techniques. Each dish is designed to evoke a "scene from travel," creating a memorable experience for all five senses through aroma, temperature, and color.
This hidden gem in Ginza has a total of 14 seats, including 8 counter seats where you can watch the chef at work up close, and a private room for up to 6 people.
Enjoy high-quality, finely prepared dishes prepared using techniques honed at a grand restaurant, perfectly complemented by wines that creatively enhance the flavors, all in a personal setting.
We also offer "1864.TEA COLLECTION No.64," an original blend tea designed to complement seafood dishes.
"1864." aims to be a place where each customer's "life story unfolds" through a unique dining experience that blends tradition and innovation.
