“Teppanyaki Umi,” a teppanyaki restaurant created by “Umi,” a restaurant that has received two Michelin stars for 10 consecutive years, has opened in Ginza.

A long-established Edo-style sushi restaurant, with a history spanning over 40 years, ventures into new territory. Its culinary philosophy is reinterpreted through the medium of teppanyaki.

For over 40 years, Umi has stood at the pinnacle of Edomae sushi in Minami-Aoyama, and has received two Michelin stars in the Michelin Guide Tokyo for 10 consecutive years. Known as one of Japan's most difficult restaurants to get a reservation at, frequented by celebrities from all over the world, Umi has opened a new teppanyaki restaurant, Ginza Teppanyaki Umi, in Ginza.

Teppanyaki Umi-aji – Witness the craftsmanship from across the counter

Inheriting the tradition of Umi, where "the owner's dedication is evident in every aspect—from the cuisine and atmosphere to the setting and hospitality," we will deliver the ultimate gourmet experience on a new stage: the teppanyaki grill.

The culinary philosophy of "Umi" is embodied in teppanyaki.

This restaurant expresses the closely guarded philosophy and techniques of "Umi" through teppanyaki. Located in a basement space slightly removed from the hustle and bustle of Ginza, it features a counter seating area overflowing with sizzling flavor and private rooms suitable for business dinners.
The refined sensibility for discerning seasonal ingredients, honed in the world of sushi, is applied to the teppanyaki grill, capturing the aroma, sound, cooking technique, and lingering aftertaste in every dish. Beyond classic steaks, the incorporation of seasonal fish and vegetables allows you to simultaneously enjoy the delicate nuances of Japanese cuisine and the immersive experience of teppanyaki.

Japanese teppanyaki that appeals to all five senses

Our courses combine not only Wagyu beef but also seasonal fish and vegetables, allowing you to enjoy a beautifully flowing dining experience from start to finish. In addition to the satisfying taste of steak, we value the subtle layers of flavor and nuances characteristic of Japanese cuisine.

At the counter seats surrounding the teppanyaki grill, you can enjoy an immersive dining experience, witnessing the chef's skills up close. Meanwhile, the private rooms offer a relaxed, private space, perfect for business meetings, anniversaries, and other special occasions. The restaurant offers both the excitement of the counter and the serenity of the private rooms, providing a refined experience for every visitor.

A special treat you can enjoy at "Umi-aji" (caviar)

Caviar, a specialty of the sea

One of Umi's specialties is Umi's caviar. The seasoning is specially blended to complement other ingredients. It is characterized by a mild taste that suits Japanese palates, without the typical fishy smell or saltiness of caviar.
