Wako will hold a solo exhibition on the basement of the main building by Akito Akagi, who continues to make lacquer ware that can be used in everyday life in Wajima, Ishikawa Prefecture, where Wajima lacquer is produced. In this exhibition, which is the second time in Wako following last year, about 100 items such as standard bowls and plates, modern plate plates and new dishes will be gathered together.
It is an assortment of products that both those who are new to lacquer and those who are already using it can enjoy the fun of choosing.
Please take this opportunity to see a number of lacquer ware that fits comfortably in your hand and gives you a feeling of the warmth of nature.
Akito Akagi who moved to Wajima after working as an editor and turned into a painter. It has been selected as one of the "12 Contemporary Japanese Paints" by the German National Museum and has been highly evaluated overseas. Lacquer ware, which has a matte texture but is glossy, is created by a unique technique of pasting Japanese paper on a wooden base and recoating it. As you use it, the color becomes deeper and a beautiful luster appears.
