Two food services at MUJI's global flagship store, Ginza, will introduce new menu items with the theme of "simple food"
Ryohin Keikaku Co., Ltd., the operator of MUJI, will be revamping the menu at MUJI Diner Ginza (B1F) and the menu and interior of MUJI Coffee & Bakery (1F) within MUJI Ginza on Friday, February 21, 2025.
When MUJI Ginza reopens in September 2023, the restaurant on the basement floor, MUJI Diner Ginza, will also be renovated, focusing on Italian pasta, one of the world's staple foods, and offering a menu that mainly uses sustainable ingredients. In this renovation, the restaurant will reflect the "food culture" and "wisdom of life" it has learned and discovered from countries around the world in its menus over a certain period of time, with each country's food as the theme. It will also offer menus that use ingredients that are usually difficult to use.
Additionally, at MUJI Coffee & Bakery, artisans bake bread made in-store every day using carefully selected ingredients such as wheat and seasonal vegetables. New menu items include baguette sandwiches that can be enjoyed as a light meal, sandwiches using the bakery's recommended product, the croissant, and bread made with seasonal ingredients. The store offers fragrant bread that makes the most of the flavor of the ingredients and carefully roasted coffee.
Below are the details of the renewal.
Restaurant "MUJI Diner Ginza" (MUJI Ginza B1F)
Aiming to become a "global popular restaurant," the restaurant will learn from the "food culture" and "wisdom of life" of countries around the world, and will serve dishes from each country over a certain period of time, with the theme of "simple food" (set menu for lunch, ala carte for dinner). Ingredients will include unused octopus with legs removed, fish with bent bones, and game meat from all over Japan.
During the inaugural period from Friday, February 21st to Thursday, April 17th, you can learn about Chinese cuisine and enjoy dishes such as Kung Pao Chicken (stir-fried chicken with cashew nuts), La Baisai (pickled Chinese cabbage in sweet and sour sauce), Sichuan-style carrot with peppercorns, and dried tofu salad.
For lunch we offer a "simple food plate", during cafe time we offer French toast made with baguettes sold in the bakery on the first floor, and for dinner we mainly offer a la carte dishes. We also offer alcoholic drinks such as sake and gin, which are made using Kamogawa rice, which was jointly developed by Ryohin Keikaku's Regional Business Division and producers, to enjoy with your meals.
The program will start with Chinese cuisine, and the next one will be Thai cuisine. In the future, the chefs plan to travel not only to Asia, but also to Europe and other countries around the world to serve the food they have learned there.
Bakery "MUJI Coffee & Bakery" (MUJI Ginza 1F)
Aiming to be a beloved bakery in Ginza, they offer bread baked in-house using carefully selected ingredients such as wheat and seasonal vegetables. Their recommended product is the croissant (on sale since last fall), which is made using high-quality cultured butter and has a thick layer that allows you to enjoy the taste and aroma of butter when you eat it. In response to customer requests, in this renewal, they have added croissant sandwiches and baguette sandwiches to their sandwich series, providing a range of products that can be enjoyed in a variety of situations. They also sell bread made with seasonal ingredients in conjunction with the produce section on the first floor of the store.
In addition to the ever-popular "Ginza Blend" coffee roasted in-store, the drink menu will also include a new espresso machine and lattes, Americanos, and more. The selection will be easy to enjoy for shoppers, as well as those who work in the Ginza area and foreigners traveling in Japan.
In addition, the store will be re-arranged to make it easier for more customers to select products.
