A festival of classic Porsches held in the skies above Ginza, Tokyo
Over 150 cars gathered under the theme of "Porsche in Japan"!
This will be an exhibition event where you can experience the history of Porsche, which has had a major impact on Japan in various ways since its first import in 1953, along with the Tokyo Expressway KK Line, which has been a pioneer in urban expressways for over 60 years.
The venue will display over 150 air-cooled Porsches, including historic racing cars and tuning cars that have built the "Porsche legend," such as the 904GTS (center photo), which overwhelmed the Skyline GT at the 1964 Japanese Grand Prix, the 910 (right photo), which Toru Ikuzawa drove at the 1968 Japanese Grand Prix, and the ISEKI Porsche 956 (left photo), which dominated domestic endurance races in the 1980s as the "black ship," as well as cars owned by ordinary owners.
Visitors can enjoy the view while relaxing on the KK Line.
"Luftgekühlt," a festival of air-cooled Porsches born in California, has arrived in Tokyo. It will recreate Japanese Porsche culture on the Tokyo Expressway KK Line.
"Luftgekühlt" is an exhibition event specializing in air-cooled Porsches, which originated in California, USA.
Now, for the first time in its more than 10-year history, LUFT TOKYO will be held in Japan, and with the theme of "Porsche in Japan," it will express the Porsche culture in Japan, which has been cultivated alongside Porsche for more than 70 years, in a deeper and richer way through the worldview of Luftgekühlt.
Don't miss this rare collaboration of air-cooled Porsches that can only be seen in Japan, taking place on the KK Line overlooking Ginza in the heart of Tokyo.
“ What is Luftgekühlt?
Luftgekühlt (German for air-cooled) is a car culture event that was born in California, USA in 2014, and focuses on the "air-cooled engine generation" of Porsches (models from the 356 generation in 1948 to the 993 generation around 1998).
Its founders were Patrick Long, a Porsche works driver with two class wins at the 24 Hours of Le Mans, and Howard Idelson, a Southern California-based creative director. Now, influential members of the Porsche community, such as renowned commercial director and racer Jeff Zwart, join the organization, and the event has grown in scale and scale every year, with events held not only in the United States but also in Europe in recent years.
LUFT TOKYO, which will be held in Japan for the first time, is a collaboration between Takada Kohei (Takapro Inc.), founder of Motorhead magazine, MH Hakone Hill Climb, and MH Hill Climb Maniwa Speed Festival, and Luftgekühlt. The event follows the essence and atmosphere of the original while promoting Japan's unique Porsche culture, which has a deep history and culture even on a global scale.
The Tokyo Expressway KK Line, which has been a pioneer of urban expressways since 1959 and will retire in April 2025, will be the perfect stage to symbolize LUFT TOKYO.
The highlight of this event will be the museum-quality racing Porsches that have graced the Japanese racing scene, including the star car, the 910 driven by Toru Ikuzawa in the 1968 Japanese Grand Prix. Also taking part will be a variety of old and new models that represent Japanese street culture, such as the 356A Cabriolet owned by the great Showa era star Ken Takakura, and the MADLANE 935ML, which won the top prize at "ULTRACE", Europe's largest custom car show, held in 2025. In addition, many air-cooled models for general users will be gathered, overlooking Ginza, the heart of Tokyo.
It will be a day where you can enjoy Porsche in your own style on the KK line.
