The theme is "Nature, Life, and Light." Four musicians—soprano, violin, cello, and piano—will be joined by children on some of the pieces, performing everything from classical masterpieces to Christmas music.
Nichika Sangyo Co., Ltd.'s Music Division will hold "RAINBOW CLASSIC Christmas Concert 2026 ~Nature, Life, Light~" at the Yamaha Hall in Ginza on Friday, December 25, 2026.
Four musicians—soprano, violin, cello, and piano—will perform a two-part program ranging from classical masterpieces like "Ave Maria" to music from The Nutcracker and other Christmas tunes. For some pieces, children who represent the next generation will share the stage with the professionals.
This series, which began in 2015, values delivering high-quality and accessible music from various genres, based on classical music, by artists with solid performance skills and rich expressiveness. The theme of this performance is "Nature, Life, and Light." Open to children aged 5 and up, this Christmas concert is enjoyable for families of all ages. Spend a special time with your loved ones on a Christmas afternoon.
Connecting hearts and society through music – The origins of project planner Mayu Yukawa
Pianist Mayu Yukawa, who established the Music Division of Nichika Sangyo Co., Ltd. in 2015 and planned this series, experienced the Great Hanshin-Awaji Earthquake when she was 10 years old. Her home and family were safe, but houses were crushed on the street below, and children who attended the same elementary school died.
"How did I survive when I was just one path away? What am I supposed to do with my life?" At the time, she would tell her mother, "I wish I could cheer everyone up, even just a little, with music." These questions and prayers remain the foundation of her activities to this day.
Amidst a series of natural disasters across Japan this year, we have returned to our roots and chosen "Nature, Life, and Light" as our theme. The beauty and blessings of nature, its greatness that embraces and heals people, and the harsh yet immeasurable power it sometimes displays. By experiencing all of these, we are reminded of the preciousness of life. Through music, we aim to deliver a time for attendees to feel "the miracle and gratitude of being alive here and now."
It doesn't matter if you're knowledgeable about music or not. You don't need to feel the same way as anyone else. I hope this will be a time when each and every person can freely enjoy resonating with music through their own sensibilities, discovering their own feelings like, "I like this sound," or "This song moved me." (Mayu Yukawa)
Highlights of the performance
A two-part program that can be enjoyed from solos to ensembles :
In the first part, we will present classical masterpieces that showcase the unique charms of both voice and instrument, including "O Christmas Tree," "Ave Maria," "Unaccompanied Cello Suite," "Schön Rosmarin," and "Jewel Song."
In Part 2, "A Christmas of Life and Light," we will present timeless classics loved across generations, such as "Colors of the Wind" from the Disney film "Pocahontas" and "I Dreamed a Dream" from the musical "Les Misérables." "Song of Life" and "Miracle of Life" will express our thoughts on life, while "White Christmas," "Nutcracker Medley," and "Christmas Festival" will bring the festive spirit of Christmas to be enjoyed by children and adults alike. The piano used will be a Bösendorfer, a renowned instrument born in Vienna.
Children performing alongside professionals : Children from the Kansai and Kanto regions will share the stage with professional musicians for some of the pieces. Regardless of competition results or skill level, we value increasing opportunities for more children to experience and challenge themselves with "the real thing" in a professional hall. We hope that the experience of working alongside professionals from rehearsals onward will build each child's confidence and lead them to their next step.
A hall enveloped in the warmth of wood : The venue, Ginza Yamaha Hall (333 seats), was built in 1953 and renovated in 2010. It is a music hall designed with the idea that "the hall itself is a musical instrument." The walls, floors, and seats are made of wood also used in musical instruments, and it is renowned for its rich acoustics. On a Christmas afternoon, we will deliver music in that acoustic environment.

With the desire to cultivate a culture in Japan where individuals and small and medium-sized enterprises can support arts and culture in an accessible way, this year we are expanding our network of sponsors to individuals and companies both domestically and internationally.
"Those who play, those who listen, and those who support them. Building a rainbow-like bridge between them, and creating enriching moments together—that is also an important mission of RAINBOW CLASSIC." (Mayu Yukawa)
Sponsorship options range from individual supporters donating 5,000 yen per unit to corporate sponsorships with complimentary seats (30,000 yen, 50,000 yen, and 100,000 yen).
