ATELIER MUJI GINZA (Chuo-ku, Tokyo / MUJI Ginza store) will hold "Life in Art Philip Wise Becker" HAND MADE Handmade "Exhibition" from April 22nd (Friday) to June 26th (Sunday), 2022. We will hold it. We will also announce and sell the paintings drawn for this exhibition and new works of objects by his own hands.
Homo Fabel / Perspective of Life Aesthetics <br /> Ryohin Keikaku Co., Ltd. is an exhibition of Paris-based artist Philip Wisebecker in Life in Art, an art project that expands art (= culture) with the theme of everyday art. We will hold a meeting.
We not only provide the basics of daily life in clothing, food and housing from the store, but also seek "comfortable living" with the cooperation of artists and creators such as selling art works and promoting our company. Continues. Among them, I have collaborated with Philip Wisebecker on various projects such as MUJI Forum des Halles (European flagship store / Paris, France) and events.
Born in 1942, Philip Wisebecker has many drawings created from his own perspective, such as familiar motifs in everyday life, a unique perspective with a flat but mysterious three-dimensional effect, and a light and warm line expression. I am fascinated by people. In addition, he designs, produces, and paints most of the furniture in his home and atelier.
This exhibition consists of drawing works with motifs of things in everyday life, tools for daily life created by the artist, and images recorded in the atelier. Feel the perspective of his life aesthetics, freely expressing his inner ideas and building a living environment, and find an opportunity to enjoy your daily life.

Chairs and furniture that would have been used by immigrants who crossed the sea to New England about 100 years ago. It is sturdy and can be made quickly with the minimum amount of materials, regardless of style or craftsmanship. I liked that kind of place.
I felt like I could make something similar. I was absorbed in making it with only rudimentary tools, and gradually replaced the interior of the atelier with my own furniture. I immediately liked the basic and unpretentious furniture. Even if my friends and family criticize me for being uncomfortable, I still feel like myself and I still use it without getting tired of it. After all, it's beautiful to see. What I see is the most important thing for me, and I have to put up with the rest. Even now, I continue to make it as needed. It's very easy to make. Wood, screws, glue, then clamps and drills, and you're ready to go. The troublesome part is the painting process. First fill the holes, file and apply the first time. Once dry, it must be filed again and applied a second time. I always use gray for the paint. Gray is my favorite color, it's not fashionable, it's heavy, and it's soothing. It's neither black nor white, but it suits me well because I'm constantly lost. Fortunately, the drawbacks of painting are also inconspicuous.
Now, my biggest wish is to display my own furniture side by side, just like the drawing work, in a naked state where nothing can be put in.
