Group exhibition by six young artists
*The works featured include past reference works by each artist. New works will also be on display at this exhibition.
The Pola Museum Annex (Ginza, Chuo-ku, Tokyo) will hold the "Pola Museum Annex Exhibition 2026" from Friday, February 13th to Sunday, April 19th, 2026, in two parts.
The "Pola Museum Annex Exhibition" is a project to introduce artists who have previously completed training under the Pola Art Foundation's overseas training program, which is one of its grant programs. The exhibition is held every year with the aim of showcasing the results of their training and encouraging the artists to use their knowledge in their future creative endeavors.
This first half of the exhibition, "Beyond Patterns," focuses on the expressions of Nakahira Misako, Hayashi Juri, and Matsunobu Soji, which confront different fields such as materials, techniques, and space, and reinterprets "patterns" not simply as decoration, but as something that reflects forms of thought such as repetition, trace, and abstraction. From this perspective, the current state of patterns will be presented, rewoven anew in a contemporary context.
In the second half of the exhibition, "Boundaries of Existence," Uchida Rina, Kuroda Keie, and Shiki Osamu explore the complexities of life and death, which lie at the very root of human existence, moving between a variety of expressive fields, including crafts, sculpture, and physical expression. Through the practices of each artist, the uncertainty of existence and the fluctuating boundaries are quietly brought to light, leading the viewer to explore various aspects of views of life and death in contemporary art.
By providing a venue for young artists to present their work, the exhibition aims to support more active creative activities and promote contemporary art.
*The grant program for overseas training for young artists aims to support overseas training for artists under the age of 40 and encourage more active creative activities.
