Ryohin Keikaku Co., Ltd., the operator of MUJI, will hold a special exhibition titled "Totonoau" at ATELIER MUJI GINZA Gallery 1 and 2 in MUJI Ginza (Chuo-ku, Tokyo) from Friday, March 20, 2026 to Sunday, May 31, 2026.
This exhibition focuses on the word "totono," which is used in a variety of ways in our daily lives, and introduces various forms of "totono" seen in "space and life," "mind and body," and "each individual." In today's society, overflowing with information and things, the "totono" introduced in the three sections of this exhibition is not about adding something or drastically removing something, but rather "the act, attitude, and state of getting closer to what is just what you need and what is not." The process of adjusting to a state that feels "good enough," rather than "this is good," is a concept that overlaps with MUJI's manufacturing. Through this exhibition, we aim to become aware of your own senses and to be a place where you can "totono" and move your life in a better direction.
The venue will feature a spatial exhibit themed on Japanese tea rooms, as well as an experiential space that will allow visitors to step away from the visually-driven nature of everyday life and focus on their own senses. Furthermore, the venue will also feature reading material on the MUJI official website, introducing ideas and practices for achieving personal "totono" (getting in tune) from consumers, producers, and MUJI staff, providing new hints for achieving "totono."
