This historic flagship store, which has been visited by members of the British royal family in the past, embodies British craftsmanship and the exchange between Japan and the UK. On Friday, February 27th, JOHN SMEDLEY Nagoya will also be reopening after renovations.
JOHN SMEDLEY Ginza, operated by Lee Mills & Company, will undergo a complete redesign this spring and reopen on Thursday, March 5, 2026.
JOHN SMEDLEY GINZA Overview
JOHN SMEDLEY Ginza is the first directly operated store in Japan for JOHN SMEDLEY, a knitwear brand that is a supplier to the British Royal Family. It is the brand's flagship store, which has been marking its history alongside the changes in the Ginza district for over 30 years since it opened in 1993. In the past, Princess Anne, a member of the British Royal Family, has visited the store during her visits to Japan, making it an important location that can be said to symbolize the brand's exchanges between Japan and the UK.
The first and second floors have been transformed into a luxurious retail space showcasing JOHN SMEDLEY's contemporary worldview. The third floor has been renovated into a JOHN SMEDLEY exclusive lounge space*. Various seasonal pop-up stores and events are planned for the future.
*The third floor is open irregularly
