The nursery rhyme doujinshi "Manjushaka" will also be exhibited for the first time!
Misuzu Kaneko is a nursery rhyme poet who is known for works such as "Tairyo", "I, a little bird and a bell", and "Snowfall".
This year, Misuzu Kaneko will celebrate the 120th anniversary of her birth. It has also been exactly 100 years since my first work was published in four magazines: Children's Story, Fujin Club, Fujingaho, and Kin no Hoshi.
Although Kaneko Misuzu was praised as "a giant among young nursery rhyme poets," she died at the young age of 26, and her existence was long forgotten. However, the thoughts of people who were fascinated by Misuzu's nursery rhymes continued uninterrupted, and over time, three posthumous manuscript notebooks by Setsuo Yazaki were discovered and the "Complete Works of Misuzu Kaneko" was published.
Misuzu's works, which are sung in words that anyone can understand, such as nursery rhymes, still shine even more than 100 years after she lived in the Taisho era, and continue to fascinate us today.
In this exhibition, we will unravel the world of nursery rhymes, which Misuzu was passionate about, through posthumous notebooks and materials from the time, and introduce the charm of her work through the original drawings of nursery rhymes and picture books written by Misuzu.
