An exhibition by potters Takashi, Taiki, and Kenta Nakazato, who create pottery in Karatsu.
Located amidst the rich natural environment of Karatsu, Ryuta Kiln has been dedicated to working with clay and fire, inheriting a solid foundation of skill and sensibility.
This exhibition will feature a joint exhibition by three artists: Takashi Nakazato, Taiki Nakazato, and Kenta Nakazato (father, son, and grandson).
Takashi's free and unrestrained forms and dignified presence, Taiki's use of traditional techniques and uniquely developed techniques to create a comfortable feel that is attuned to the user, and Kenta's new sensibility that is rooted in tradition but suited to modern life.
Although each piece has its own distinct style, they quietly resonate with one another as works rooted in the essence of Karatsu ware.
From tableware that brings joy to everyday meals to tea ceremony ceramics that convey the craftsman's passion when you hold them, and large bowls and vases, please see the diverse "present" of these three artists.
Takashi Nakazato travels the world, Taiki protects Ryuta Kiln, and Kenta leaps into the future. Takashi Nakazato's works are captivating, reflecting his personality. This charm stems from his early days of training, where he threw 700 identical plates and bowls on a kick wheel every day. Creating and holding solo exhibitions in various places around the world is Takashi Nakazato's style. His barrel-shaped, pitcher-shaped, and water chestnut-shaped bottles are forms not found in traditional Karatsu ware. The dinner scene at Ryuta Kiln involves drinking sake, eating food, and conversing with various people such as writers, musicians, and chefs. This style of pottery making and lifestyle has been passed down to Taiki. Taiki has created his own unique expression by referencing the Mishima ware technique. Kenta creates sutra cylinders as vessels to entrust his hopes for the future, as well as plates and teacups to brighten everyday life. The sutra cylinders are wonderful works that can be used as both vases and objects.
