Doors Inc., a creative company that connects people, businesses, and cultures to open up new value, will be holding Minami's solo exhibition "ANiMA – Living Things -" from Friday, September 4th to Sunday, September 20th, 2026.
Minami's creative starting point is always in the "in-between." Japan and France, actress and artist, reality and imagination, life and death, memory and dreams. Having moved between different cultures and fields of expression, she doesn't offer clear answers, but rather through her work, she creates quiet "questions" within the viewer.
This exhibition, "ANiMA – Living Things," depicts nameless life forms that exist in the space between reality and imagination.
"ANiMA" is a Latin word meaning "soul," "breath," or "source of life." It represents being born, living, dying, and how the end of one life leads to a new beginning.
The two Anonyms featured in the main visual oil painting "Mirage" open the door to a story, and the world of expression expands in multiple ways, from oil paintings and collages to jewelry. Through the vibrant dreams of life, the exhibition creates a space to re-examine our coexistence with others and nature, and how we are sustained by them.
Artist Profile
Minami
Growing up between Japanese and French cultures, Minami has always grappled with boundaries. Having built her acting career, including appearing in the Johnny Depp-starring film "MINAMATA," she began seriously pursuing art to give form to the sense of being "in between" that she felt during her career. Primarily focusing on painting, she traverses diverse mediums, carrying on the surrealist worldview that has been with her since childhood, continuously visualizing its ambiguous spaces. Currently, in addition to her work as an actress and artist, she has expanded her activities to include film and jewelry brand production and production. She continues to explore new horizons of expression, dissolving the boundaries of genre, country, and culture.
