Summer Art Aquarium 2026 – A journey through Japan's summer with goldfish –

Art Aquarium Museum GINZA (located at Ginza Mitsukoshi) will open "Summer Art Aquarium 2026 – A Journey Through Japan's Summer with Goldfish -" from Friday, June 26, 2026. This year, the "Goldfish Screen Room" will be unveiled for the first time! "Super Oiran -Yui-" will also make its debut in Ginza. In addition, the "Edo Kiriko Glass Exhibition," featuring the beauty of traditional cut glass, will be held! Furthermore, hundreds of wind chimes, a symbol of summer, will adorn the corridor of goldfish! To commemorate the opening of this special event, actress Haru will appear at the opening event! She spoke about the charm of Art Aquarium, which evokes the coolness of summer!

■ Three new areas this summer, including the "Goldfish Screen Room"

This summer, we will be unveiling a new exhibit: the "Goldfish Screen Room"! Based on the theme of "Edo Scenery Depicted by Goldfish," this room will project a powerful video using collages of traditional Japanese screen paintings and Ukiyo-e prints by Utagawa Kuniyoshi. The "Goldfish Screen Room" will create an overwhelmingly immersive experience. A screen-shaped aquarium measuring approximately 2m high and 7m wide will stand tall on the stage! This is the largest production we have ever created, designed as a viewing stage.

Furthermore, "Super Oiran," which was well-received at the Saitama exhibition, will be appearing in Ginza as "Super Oiran -Yui-"! We decided to exhibit it this summer with the hope that the people of Ginza will be able to see the power and splendor that is different from the beauty of "NEO Oiran." "Super Oiran -Yui-" is a gigantic goldfish bowl artwork of overwhelming scale, boasting the largest size in Art Aquarium history. The gigantic work, with a diameter of approximately 4.8m and a height of approximately 2.5m, with 16 tanks surrounding the main tank, brings the fantastical world of Edo to life in the modern age with vivid light and sound effects. It is one of the works that we would like you to stop and take a look at.

The "Edo Kiriko Exhibition" fuses traditional Japanese beauty with art. Goldfish swim gracefully in a beautiful Edo Kiriko aquarium. The traditional cut glass and the vibrant life of the fish come together to create a beautiful work of light art. Come and experience the exquisite cuts that showcase the craftsmanship of the artisans, and the overwhelming beauty of the forms created by the interplay of water and light.

In the "Goldfish Corridor," hundreds of wind chimes adorn the space, creating a crisp summer atmosphere. Each "Giyaman wind chime" is hand-painted by artisans at Kinomoto Lacquerware Shop. The cool, layered appearance of the wind chimes creates a pleasant space, allowing you to enjoy a luxurious moment away from the hustle and bustle of everyday life.

In addition to this, we have various other projects in the works for the summer holidays! Don't miss Art Aquarium Museum GINZA this summer!

■Actress Haru will be appearing at the commemorative event.

To commemorate the opening of "Summer Art Aquarium 2026 – A Journey Through Japan's Summer with Goldfish -" on Friday, June 26th, we welcomed actress Haru as a special guest. Haru appeared in a yukata adorned with a cool goldfish pattern obi, adding an extra touch of glamour to the aquarium. At the event, guests were able to enjoy various works of art, including the unveiling of the new "Goldfish Screen Room" for this summer, and the interplay of light and gracefully swimming goldfish.

In addition, a surprise celebration was held for Haru, who celebrated her birthday last week. She was delighted with a special birthday cake featuring a goldfish motif and a heartfelt gift from the Art Aquarium Museum GINZA. The gifts included a plush toy of the popular "Tosa Goldfish" from the museum shop and a "Goldfish Fortune Slip." Haru immediately drew a "Goldfish Fortune Slip," and in response to the message "Try to go to bed early and wake up early," she made a cute comment, saying, "I'm a terrible late riser. I'll try my best!" She also smiled and said of the "Tosa Goldfish" plush toy, "Its tail fin looks like a kimono! It's so cute!" The event was filled with a warm atmosphere from beginning to end.

<Haru Talk Event>
I am so happy to have been invited to such a wonderful place. This time, I've chosen a lovely yukata with a morning glory pattern on a white background, paired with a obi featuring a design of swimming goldfish. The obi clasp, which is an Edo period antique, gives the impression of water bubbles, and I feel very cool and refreshed while wearing it. I previously visited the Art Aquarium held in Nihonbashi, but this time it's even better. Not only are the goldfish beautiful, but each aquarium is so meticulously designed that the space itself feels like a work of art. Coming here after work is incredibly relaxing and makes me feel like I can work hard again tomorrow. Of all the new works this time, the one that particularly impressed me was the "Goldfish Screen Room." The aquarium is shaped like a folding screen, and the goldfish swim around inside in a cute and elegant way, like in the Choju-giga scrolls. The projected images also change one after another, so I felt like I could watch it forever!

-message-
Many people will be visiting Tokyo for summer vacation trips and other reasons, so I hope they'll come and see it. I also think this event will be a great opportunity for Tokyo residents to rediscover that such a wonderful, cool, and relaxing space exists in the heart of Ginza. I myself would love to come back again with my "favorites" (my nephew and niece). I hope it will be an exhibition that many people can enjoy!
