Back to the Edo Painting-Wakatsuki, Kojiro, Koyuki, Hakuin

Kashima Art will hold a "Back to the Edo Painting-Wakasu, Hakurei, Hakusho, Hakusetsu, Hakuin" exhibition from March 21 (Thu) to March 31 (Sun), 2019. In this exhibition, a number of works will be exhibited and sold, focusing on painters who used their original paint brushes during the middle of the Edo period, such as Ito Wakasu, Soga Koshiro, Nagasawa Koyuki, and Hakugakuto Kozuru. About 35 works. Viewing and cataloging is free.

In the middle of the Edo period, there were painters who did not get caught up in authority or common sense, and pioneered the path with their own paint brushes. The uniqueness and creativity of their works are so outstanding that they appear fresh in our eyes today. The strong attractiveness of the works, which can be said to be a variant, has not diminished even after 300 years of space-time. The more we look at it, the more we look at it, we will be drawn into the work to find out the strong energy and smell of this work. Cuteness with mysterious caress, sometimes grotesque …. They continued to challenge the common sense of beauty with their free and free ideas. We, who receive their message over time, will also hold this exhibition to enjoy their work with as much freedom as they do. Of course, if there are works you are interested in, you can purchase them on the spot! Please try to get on the time machine and enjoy the world of unconventional Edo paintings.
