Vintage shops and galleries all over Japan that deal mainly in the mid-century period are gathered!
Ryohin Keikaku Co., Ltd., which develops the interior brand IDÉE, will hold "Life in Art" TOKYO MODERNISM 2022 "" from February 25th (Friday) to April 10th (Sunday).
Vintage shops and galleries focusing on modern design from the mid-century period (1940 – 1960s) gathered from all over Japan, and they created the beauty of modeling and functional beauty created by excellent designers from all over the world selected by their individuality. I will introduce it along with the time and background of my birth. Shinichiro Nakahara (Landscape Products Founder), who says that one of the origins of his activities is the design of the mid-century period, and Takahiro Goko, who has held the "MODER NISM SHOW" to widely convey the modern design of the golden age. With (Swimsuit Department) as a planning cooperation, we will hold an exhibition at ATELIER MUJI GINZA (6th floor of MUJI Ginza), an auction at IDÉE TOKYO, and a show at MUJI HOTEL GINZA.
1. "Modernism Gallery" Venue: ATELIER MUJI GINZA (MUJI Ginza 6F) 2022.2.25 Fri – 4.10 Sun
This is an exhibition that introduces the thoughts of the shop owners and the story of the designer, as well as a gallery that conveys the splendor of vintage furniture and interiors centered on the mid-century period, which has shops all over the country.
2. "Modernism Auction #Chairs" Venue: IDÉE TOKYO 2022.2.25 Fri – 4.10 Sun
An auction project that connects the chairs that shop owners, creators and artists who participate in "TOKYO MODERNISM 2022" have used with attachment. The venue is IDÉE TOKYO, which has a store inside Tokyo Station.
3. "Modernism Show" Venue: MUJI HOTEL GINZA 2022.4.7 Thu – 4.10 Sun
A special show where about 30 galleries and vintage shops in Japan will open the guest rooms on the 7th to 8th floors of MUJI HOTEL GINZA. Masterpieces of modern design are gathered together, mainly in the United States, Brazil, Scandinavia, Europe, and Japan. "TOKYO MODERNISM 2022" main project!
Overseas, collectors and enthusiasts from all over the world gather at exhibitions and markets of modern design born in the middle of the 20th century, including mid-century modern such as “Design Miami” in Miami, USA and “Downtown Modernism” in Los Angeles. On the other hand, there have been no large-scale events in Japan so far. "Life in Art" is a project by IDÉE and MUJI that expands art (= culture) with the theme of everyday art. We consider that the functions and modeling of excellent design products have value and aspects as art like paintings and sculptures, and we also propose the fun of such an appearance.

Modernism Show Jacks 7th and 8th floors of MUJI HOTEL GINZA!
Approximately 30 galleries and vintage shops operating in Japan will hold special shows by turning each hotel room into a showcase for a limited time. Vintage modern designs from around the world, including the United States, Brazil, Scandinavia, Europe, and Japan, come together. Of course you can buy it. Excellent design gathered with unique owners and their aesthetic eyes. There may be unexpected encounters and new discoveries.

TOKYO MODERNISM will start in the spring of 2022.
Vintage galleries and shops centered around the mid-century era are gathered all over Japan, and each one has its own personality and is lined up in three venues.
About 20 years ago, there was a big wave of modernist reassessment in Japan as well. We are looking forward to seeing how this trend has spread and landed in Japan through this show.
There is a deep story about what each gallery and shop has met and brought through buyers and markets in different countries.
Sometimes the same chair even feels completely different.
That's because the buyer has met the thing.
This show will be held to connect it to new encounters.
