This year too! “Higashi Ginza Wind Chime Event 2025” will be held to brighten up Higashi Ginza’s summer!

-Approximately 90 locations including Kabukiza, Ginza Shochiku Square, and Tsukiji Honganji Temple-

Higashi Ginza Area Management General Incorporated Association is pleased to announce that it will be hosting the Higashi Ginza Wind Chime Event 2025 (July 18th – August 19th), co-hosted with the Higashi Ginza Urban Development Promotion Council and in cooperation with the Chuo Ward Tourism Association.
This year marks the fifth year of this event, and we hope that more people will come to the Higashi Ginza area.

[Held again this year! Approximately 500 wind chimes decorate Higashi Ginza in summer]

In ancient Japan, there was a custom of decorating bronze bells called "futaku" to ward off epidemics and ward off evil spirits. In keeping with this custom, and with the cooperation of people in the surrounding areas, mainly in the Ginza to Tsukiji area, we will be hanging about 500 wind chimes made from "Nambu Ironware" that are popular in Iwate Prefecture, at about 90 locations, including famous spots and restaurants such as the Kabukiza Theater, Ginza Shochiku Square, and Tsukiji Honganji Temple . The designs on the strips of paper feature the streetscape of the 37 towns of Chuo Ward, which gives a sense of the city's history, as well as the designs of "senshafuda," which have pictures related to each area , adding color to the entire city!
In addition to the "Nambu Ironware Wind Chimes," "Ginza Shochiku Square 1F" will also feature "Edo Wind Chimes," a traditional craft of Tokyo that are made using techniques handed down for over 300 years, to create a cool atmosphere. You can also enjoy the difference in the sound of the two types of wind chimes.

[Sendai Tanabata is coming to Higashi Ginza! There will also be an exhibition of strips of paper with wishes written on them]

In addition, the "Sendai Tanabata Decoration Exhibition Event" will be held from July 18th (Friday) to August 7th (Thursday) by KPP Group Holdings, co-hosted by Higashi Ginza Area Management General Incorporated Association, and in cooperation with Narumi-ya Paper Trading Co., Ltd. This event is a collaboration with the "Sendai Tanabata" event, which was held last year and was well received, and will be exhibited in Ginza Shochiku Square, featuring a giant "windsock" measuring approximately 6 meters in length, and "bamboo decorations" decorated with seven Sendai Tanabata decorations, with strips of paper on which children from Chuo Ward have written their wishes. "Sendai Tanabata" is a traditional event that has been held since the time of Date Masamune, and is one of the most representative summer festivals in Tohoku, attracting approximately 2 million people every year as the largest Tanabata festival in Japan. At this year's event, we will also provide strips of paper on which visitors can write their wishes. In the summer, when extreme heat is expected, enjoy a cool and relaxing time with the refreshing sounds of wind chimes spread throughout the Higashi Ginza area.
