Summer Art Aquarium 2026 – A journey through Japan's summer with goldfish –
Art Aquarium Museum GINZA (located at Ginza Mitsukoshi) will be holding "Mysterious Goldfish Museum ~Eeriely Shining Sounds and Lights~" as the second act of "Summer Art Aquarium 2026," which began on June 26th, 2026 (Friday), for a limited time and hours.
[Something will happen at dusk…? An unusual art aquarium woven with sound and light]
From July 21st (Tuesday) to August 12th (Wednesday), and only during the special hours of 4 PM to 7 PM, the atmosphere of the Art Aquarium Museum will completely change as the sun begins to set. As you walk from the goldfish-lined path to the smaller paths, you'll notice that the music and lighting take on a strangely eerie and unsettling feel. Even the sounds of the hundreds of wind chimes lining the goldfish corridor will sound different than usual.
The usual vibrant atmosphere is suddenly replaced by a strange and beautiful world woven from light and sound. "Wait, something's different…" you might think, as a special performance unfolds, sending a slight chill down your spine—a spectacle only available on a midsummer evening.
Furthermore, you'll find yokai (supernatural beings) from ukiyo-e prints, drawn in by the mysterious light and sound, throughout the museum. They might even pop up right near you! Be sure to search for these yokai hidden amongst the beautiful goldfish.
Come and experience a special, sensory-stimulating experience at the cool Art Aquarium Museum this summer.
*This is not a haunted house (you can enjoy some slightly spooky effects).
*You can enjoy the regular performance from 10:00 to 16:00.

■What is Art Aquarium?
Art Aquarium is an immersive entertainment art experience that uses light, scent, and sound to enhance aquariums where goldfish swim. It is a unique world where Japanese tradition and cutting-edge art merge, expressing the culture of appreciating goldfish, which has continued since the Edo period, as a work of art for the modern age.
The sculptural beauty of the aquarium artwork, the spatial design, and the fantastical space created by the various beauties of the goldfish unfold before your eyes.
Since its inception in Tokyo in 2007, it has been held as a limited-time event in various locations across Japan, and has become a popular and well-established event held in Tokyo during the summer months.
In August 2020, the museum opened its first permanent collection in Nihonbashi, Tokyo (Chuo Ward, Tokyo).
Subsequently, in May 2022, it relocated to Ginza, Tokyo (8th floor of the Ginza Mitsukoshi New Building, Chuo-ku, Tokyo) and is currently in operation there. Since 2007, it has become an entertainment-type art museum IP boasting a cumulative visitor count of 13 million people (as of October 2025).
