Gallery ART FOR THOUGHT in Ginza, Tokyo will be holding an exhibition by Nodoka Yamaura entitled "Night and a Slight Taste of Morning" from Saturday, July 27, 2024 to Thursday, August 29, 2024 as the sixth installment of the exhibition series "the foundry."
Yamaura Nodoka is a contemporary Japanese paper artist and graphic and spatial designer.
While based in Tokushima, the artist has been expanding his activities to Tokyo and the world, receiving high praise for his solo exhibition at ART FOR THOUGHT in July last year and his exhibition at TOKYO CREATIVE SALON 2024 (Haneda Airport Terminal 2) in March this year.
Morning and night, beauty and awe, the visible and the invisible – the sensibilities the artist glimpsed through the cherry blossoms at night delicately unravel the known and awaken softer perceptions.
Please enjoy this new work by an artist who uses modern sensibilities to explore the world that came into view after he discovered washi paper and moved to Tokushima.
*This exhibition is the sixth in the "The Foundry" series, which introduces young artists who are attempting to combine traditional Japanese crafts with contemporary art.

■Project series “the foundry”
"The foundry" is an exhibition series showcasing young artists who are attempting to combine traditional Japanese crafts with contemporary art.
Originally, Japanese art also had an aspect of being a tool for daily life. As daily necessities and furnishings, they brought the seasons and ideas into a room, gently transforming and enriching the everyday. This series is an attempt to present such implementation of life again in modern society, in order to enrich and comfortably spend the repetitive days of each day.
Ginza was once a place where silver coins were minted during the Edo period, and silver lubricated the daily lives of people. A quiet challenge is about to begin: by using traditional Japanese techniques and the expressiveness of contemporary art, Japanese art will once again be minted as a form of utilitarian beauty.
