Ginza Sony Park will open its buildings, which are currently under construction, for a special event in preparation for its grand opening in January 2025. The park will host a program called "ART IN THE PARK (under construction)" from November 19th (Tuesday) to December 1st (Sunday), 2024, featuring three artists with close ties to Ginza Sony Park: SHUN SUDO, Yamaguchi Koji, and Tamayama Takuro.
The exhibition will feature 24 new pieces from SHUN SUDO's iconic BUTTON FLOWER, 12 new pieces based on the flower garden motif of Yamaguchi Koji, and an original light piece by Tamayama Takuro that uses LED fluorescent lights that penetrate the space of Ginza Sony Park. Experience the fusion of art pieces that can only be seen here before the grand opening with the space of Ginza Sony Park.

To date, Ginza Sony Park has hosted a variety of art programs, including "ART IN THE PARK," to allow passersby to enjoy the town of Ginza, and has attracted many visitors.
In March 2020, SHUN SUDO drew directly on the walls of the underground space of Ginza Sony Park, where the structure of the Sony Building remains, with the motif of flowers and music. The wall art expresses Ginza, where there are people and buildings, but also beautiful flowers blooming and cheerful music reverberating. In June 2021, Koji Yamaguchi will exhibit works that capture the structure of the Sony Building, the underground stairs, and the space within Ginza Sony Park in various locations within the park, and will implement the program "Memories of the Margins," which allows visitors to view the works while strolling around the park. And at the "Sony Park Exhibition KYOTO" held in Kyoto in November 2022, Takuro Tamayama exhibited an installation work with the motif of "light," inspired by the special space that is usually inaccessible, the former site of the Kyoto Shimbun Printing Factory.

Shun Sudo
Born in Tokyo in 1977. He studied art on his own, based on the sensibilities he gained while traveling around the world. His delicate touch combines the dynamics of ink painting with pop colors reminiscent of street style graffiti. His fantastical "creatures" and "flowers" are inspired by movies, music, sports, nature, and animation. His art works, which are woven from his worldview and cannot be contained in a single genre, have attracted attention from around the world. In 2015, he held his first solo exhibition, "PAINT OVER," in New York. Since then, he has held solo exhibitions both in Japan and abroad, and has created large-scale art walls in New York, Miami, and Tokyo, becoming an artist of interest overnight. In his solo exhibition "2020" held in 2020, he depicted a society at the mercy of the COVID-19 pandemic, and the following year he held his solo exhibition "Art Demoic," hoping for the restoration of art from the pandemic. He will be releasing works with strong messages one after another, such as "Blowin' in the Wind" in 2022, which prays for peace, and "ART LAND" in 2023, which pursues the joy of art. The "BUTTON FLOWER", which can be said to be a representative motif of his work, is also painted as "a symbol of LOVE & PEACE that connects two fabrics that exist separately". In his solo exhibition "MOMENTARY" held at Ryosokuin Temple in Kyoto in 2024, he made a bold attempt to paint a "BUTTON FLOWER" on a traditional Japanese gold folding screen, and the work was later dedicated to the temple. It became a hot topic both at home and abroad.

Yukio Yamaguchi
Heavily influenced by the flexible perspective of skateboarding, which uses the city as a playground, he transforms everyday scenery and familiar objects into a unique perspective using various techniques such as painting, drawing, and collage. His first collection of works, "Days," will be published by Bijutsu Shuppansha in 2023.

Takuro Tamayama
Born in Gifu Prefecture in 1990. Lives in Tokyo. After graduating from Aichi Prefectural University of the Arts, he completed his graduate studies at Tokyo University of the Arts in 2015. He expresses spaces with intricate compositions by combining furniture and everyday objects created with reference to familiar images, the color tones of video, the rhythm of objects, and vivid lighting and sound. Recent major exhibitions include "2021 3rd Collection Exhibition" (Aichi Prefectural Museum of Art, 2022), "Anything will slip off / If cut diagonally" (ANOMALY, 2021), and "25th Anniversary Collection Exhibition VISION Part 1 About Light / With Light" (Toyota Municipal Museum of Art, 2020). He is also planning to hold a solo exhibition at the Toyota Municipal Museum of Art in 2025.

At "Records of Margins," held at Ginza Sony Park in 2021, Yamaguchi cut out scenes from Ginza Sony Park and its surrounding scenery, put them on canvas, and exhibited them scattered throughout the park. Takuro Tamayama's work "Sony Park Exhibition KYOTO" at the former site of the Kyoto Shimbun printing factory
An installation work with a light motif by Takuro Tamayama was exhibited at the former site of the Kyoto Shimbun Printing Factory at the "Sony Park Exhibition KYOTO" held in Kyoto for two weeks from November 11th to 23rd, 2022. The "light" of Tamayama's work played a major role in turning the site of the printing factory, which had not been used for many years, into a "park." He has also exhibited his works twice at Sony Park Mini.

About the Ginza Sony Park Project
The Ginza Sony Park project is a project to rebuild the Sony Building, which has been a part of the Ginza area for over 50 years, with the concept of "a facility open to the city."
The Sony Building was built in 1966 by Akio Morita, one of the founders of Sony.
There was a 33-square-meter public space there that Morita called the "Ginza Garden," a symbol of "a facility open to the town." We wanted to carry on the founder's vision for the next 50 years, so we have been working on this project to expand the "Ginza Garden" into a "Ginza Park," creating a new rhythm for the town, making it more accessible to visitors, and providing a variety of ways to enjoy it.
In order to keep the rebuilding process unique and worthy of Sony's name, the company adopted a two-stage process based on an innovative idea. In the first stage, instead of immediately constructing a new building, the company carried out an unprecedented experimental attempt to turn the site into a park while the building was being demolished (August 2018 to September 2021). As a result, the park has been visited by a total of 8.54 million people over a period of about three years, including during the COVID-19 pandemic.
After that, demolition and new construction will resume as the second phase, with the final form of the project, Ginza Sony Park, scheduled for completion in August 2024 and its grand opening in January 2025.

Sony Park Mini is a 33-square-meter pop-up space located on the first basement floor of Nishi Ginza Parking Lot, located almost directly under the Sukiyabashi intersection in Ginza, Tokyo, as an experimental space for the new Ginza Sony Park, scheduled to grand open in January 2025. With the concept of "continuously launching programs that allow you to feel the pulse of artists," the space has hosted more than 50 diverse programs since its opening in March 2022.
