Ginza Wako will be holding an exhibition titled "Avant-Garde World of Miniature" by three ceramic artists at the Seiko House Hall from Thursday, January 30th to Sunday, February 9th.
Chaos and order, micro and macro, detailed expression are accompanied by a sense that can be said to be two sides of the same coin. This exhibition features a number of innovative works that touch upon the realm of contemporary art, produced by three ceramist who have been driving the contemporary ceramic art scene for many years and continue to challenge themselves to achieve the detailed expression they aspire to.
Minami Shigeki creates a tranquil yet eloquent world by adding bold carvings and intricate geometric patterns to beautiful white porcelain bodies.
Hideaki Suzuki makes full use of his gorgeous and luxurious techniques of colored and gold painting to create dazzling and enchanting "microcosms within vessels."
Mikiko Tomita feels the breath of nature and creates patterns and shapes that spring from her own heart, conscious of the cellular level world, which is its origin.
Meticulous, dense, vivid… The three artists each present their own profoundly detailed worlds, and their respective penetrating sensibilities will deeply move the hearts of those who visit.
A gallery talk by the exhibiting artists will be held at the venue.
February 1 (Sat) 14:00~
◎ Admission may be restricted during peak hours.
