Gucci's connection with Tadanori Yokoo dates back to the window art project that marked the opening of Gucci Shibuya Miyashita Park in 2020. Further developing this dynamic and creative collaboration, Yokoo's solo exhibition "Tadanori Yokoo: Unfinished Self-Portrait – Journey to Myself" will be held at the Gucci Ginza Gallery in Ginza, Tokyo from Wednesday, April 23, 2025.

The theme of this exhibition, "Incompleteness," is based on the aesthetics that Yokoo has consistently upheld, that artistic creativity resides not in the moment of completion, but rather in the incompleteness. For about 60 years since the 1960s, Yokoo has produced numerous works, making full use of ever-changing styles and themes that span the universe, and has never stopped at one completed form, but has always repeated transformations and challenges. This attitude also resonates with the ever-evolving nature of the Gucci brand. This exhibition, titled "Tadanori Yokoo: Unfinished Self-Portrait – Journey to Me," features Yokoo's work, who has never settled on one "completeness," but has always challenged new possibilities for expression, undergoing transformations and continuing his "incomplete" "journey." Curated by art critic Yusuke Minami, the exhibition will feature approximately 30 works by Yokoo, including six of his latest works, including self-portraits and family portraits, which will be shown for the first time, centered on themes that evoke "journey."

In addition, in the rooftop space specially opened for this exhibition, a dynamic reproduction of Yokoo's bright red scaffolding installation, which symbolically represents the image of "unfinished work" and caused a big stir at the 1970 Osaka Expo, will be displayed. In addition, "Yokoo Tadanori: River of Linked Paintings" will be held at the Setagaya Art Museum in Tokyo from Saturday, April 26 to Sunday, June 22, 2025, allowing visitors to enjoy Yokoo's work in Tokyo at the same time.

In addition to the exhibition at the Gucci Ginza Gallery, Gucci is also planning to develop an art project in Osaka, which is attracting global attention. Gucci will be the first fashion brand to serve as an official partner of the Setouchi Triennale 2025, and will further strengthen the connection between art and fashion through multifaceted efforts linking the three locations of the Setouchi area, Tokyo, and Osaka in 2025.
