~For a break from work or between shows, a grassy plaza will appear in the middle of Higashi Ginza for three weeks only. Festivals, markets, and street performances will also be held. Bringing new appeal for relaxation and interaction to the city of culture and business.~
Higashi Ginza Area Management General Incorporated Association will open an artificial turf plaza called "HIGASHIGINZA PARKscape" in the outdoor space in front of Ginza Shochiku Square for 19 days from Monday, October 6th to Friday, October 24th, 2025.
The Higashi Ginza area is a cultural and artistic hub that is home to the Kabukiza Theater and Shinbashi Enbujo Theater, and is frequented by many office workers and tourists from Japan and abroad. This social experiment will further draw out the area's charm by intentionally creating a scene for relaxation and interaction in the heart of this area. During the event, there will be a festival and market that can be enjoyed by children and adults alike, as well as officially recognized street performances, with the aim of becoming a place where a diverse range of people can gather.
■Why a “grass square” in Higashi Ginza now?
The Higashi Ginza area is home to a concentration of cultural facilities and offices, and is a busy place with many people coming and going, but there are few green open spaces where people can casually stop by and take a break. There is also a desire for a place where people can have a leisurely lunch.
By setting up a temporary park in this location, we will explore the possibilities of creating a "plaza" where people who work, visit, and live in the area can spend their time in a more enriching and enjoyable way.
■About "HIGASHIGINZA PARKscape"
The name is a combination of "PARK," meaning park, and "Landscape," meaning scenery or greenery. The approximately 110m² space is covered with soft artificial turf and is equipped with benches, a covered table house, and a bear sculpture made of artificial turf that will become an iconic photo spot. The inorganic concrete space is transformed into a warm landscape that will make you want to stop by.
■Various events are held on the grassy plaza according to the day and time!
[Saturday, October 11th, 10:00-17:00 Candy store & festival]
There will be a nostalgic candy store and a festival where you can enjoy shooting galleries and ring toss. Food trucks will also be on hand, creating a lively atmosphere that can be enjoyed by people of all ages, from children to adults. This will provide foreign tourists with an opportunity to casually experience Japanese culture.
