An original art world reflecting the universe, woven from wood and resin, will be held at Ginza Apollo Showakan YOHAKU

mawood Exhibition 4 ~Dimension~

A solo exhibition by mawood, an original artist whose artworks reflect the universe, will be held for three days from September 13th (Sat) to 15th (Mon) at Ginza Apollo Showakan YOHAKU (1st basement floor, 4-12-20 Ginza, Chuo-ku).
This is the artist's fourth solo exhibition and will feature over 200 one-of-a-kind pieces that combine wood and resin, with space and galaxy motifs.
The works, such as "Dragon Egg" that seems to contain galaxies, stars, and fantastical landscapes, and the latest "A Certain Star +" series, are like scenes from another dimension. Visitors can pick them up and enjoy the way the light filters in, or gaze upon them from every angle, becoming engrossed in these works, which are sure to bring undiscovered bliss to visitors.

About the Artist

The works of craftsman mawood combine the natural texture of wood with the transparent texture of resin, and are created with a focus on achieving a "mirror-like luster and transparency." One of his works, the egg-shaped "Dragon Egg," has been described as "a universe in the palm of your hand," and has become a hot topic, recording millions of views on social media.
During the production process, the wood is carefully polished, resin is poured in, and then polished with more than 13 types of sandpaper, resulting in a precise piece with an overwhelming luster and beautiful transparency. "The sense of accomplishment I get the moment I finish polishing it is unstoppable," says the artist, revealing the attention to detail and passion that goes into each piece.
