Approximately 300 pieces will be on display, including new platinum-colored pieces that represent the culmination of his research into crystalline glazes.
Starting Saturday, March 14th, CIBONE CASE (Ginza) will be holding a solo exhibition by Fukushima-based ceramic artist Toru Itabashi.
This is Itabashi's second exhibition, and in addition to his signature work "Snow Flowers" made with zinc crystal glaze, we will be showcasing approximately 300 works, including new works mainly using platinum colors, which is a work he has been focusing on recently.
Platinum coloring is a technique of applying platinum to ceramics and porcelain, and is characterized by its resistance to discoloration and its ability to maintain a subdued sparkle for a long time.
This new expression combines the crystalline glaze that is the artist's signature with platinum color, whose brilliance changes depending on the slightest difference in density and the condition of the surface, and can be said to be the culmination of many years of research into crystalline glaze, with crystals spreading across a delicate and beautiful silver world reflected within the vessel.
In addition to the platinum-colored works, we will also be exhibiting Itabashi's masterpiece, "Snow Flower," made with zinc crystal glaze.
This series, striking for its delicate and translucent beauty, is created using a zinc crystal glaze, and the final product is not known until the kiln is opened, making it truly a once-in-a-lifetime encounter. With a dignified and elegant appearance, it shows various expressions depending on the natural light and the angle at which it is picked up.
This solo exhibition features approximately 300 pieces, so please come and enjoy the beauty of the works.
