Ginza, where tradition and innovation intersect. A new art appreciation experience that weaves connections through art.
Ginza is a district where tradition and innovation thrive. At its heart lies the new hub of JINS Ginza, featuring an original exterior designed by architect Sou Fujimoto, based on the concept of "soft Japanese aesthetics" and realized through the handiwork of plasterers.
The store, which presents contrasting atmospheres on the first floor and basement, welcomes "Snow-Deer," a work by sculptor Kohei Nawa. By utilizing the open atrium space, the store offers visitors a new perspective and insights through the experience of viewing the artwork from various angles.
The art gallery on the first basement floor, a first for JINS stores, is a stage for showcasing Japanese creativity to the world. As an open space where people gather through art, we aim to weave together the "connections" (enishi) that are also the store's concept, with the Ginza area and our customers.
Artist Mika Ninagawa captures fleeting moments of light and color.
The first exhibition at the art gallery featured "Rikka," a style of ikebana created by Senko, the next headmaster of the Ikenobo school, the origin of ikebana, allowing visitors to deeply engage with traditional Japanese aesthetics.
For this second installment, we have invited Mika Ninagawa, an artist who has gained strong support both domestically and internationally for her unique visual expression. Her exhibition, "Flowers, Twinkling Light," leads viewers to a vivid and new viewing experience, as if merging with the light within a photograph.
JINS will continue to showcase the diverse appeal of Japan's proud creativity from Ginza to the world.
Comment from artist Mika Ninagawa
Artwork title: Flowers, Shimmering Light.
Like the light that pours in the moment you open the window,
The world is so full of color.
Everything changes beautifully,
They will never show the same expression again.
That fleeting moment,
Gently scoop it up before it disappears,
I want to keep it for myself.
Every time I pressed the shutter,
I deeply merge with the light of this world,
It barely maintains its wavering outline.
