“Tokyo Art Antique” to enjoy Tokyo Nihonbashi / Kyobashi as a city of Art held from 25th to 27th April 2019

The Tokyo Art Antique Executive Committee held “Tokyo Art Antique 2019 – Nihonbashi · Kyobashi Art Festival ~ (Tokyo Art Antique)” from Thursday, April 25, 2019 (Saturday) April 27 (Saturday) I will do.
“Tokyo Art Antique” began in 1998 as the “Nihonbashi · Kyobashi Art Antique Festival” and has held twice a year. After renaming the name to “Tokyo Art Antique” in 2010, it will be the tenth year this year, and more than 90 art shops and galleries will participate.

The Nihonbashi / Kyobashi area in Chuo-ku, Tokyo, has about 150 specialty shops such as antique arts, crafts, Japanese paintings, modern paintings, sculptures, prints and so on accumulating from the postwar period. In Tokyo, even in Tokyo, unique dense arts densely after Ginza is. “Tokyo Art Antique” is aimed to utilize its regionality to visit antique art shops and art galleries that are often thought to be a high threshold, without worrying about people of a wide range, and to touch arts in close proximity . Unlike art museums, rather than appreciating them through glass, it is an opportunity to actually take hands and touch them, talk with shopkeepers and writers, and feel the connection between art and people.

To encourage visitors who are keeping on increasing year by year, we will organize talk events and charity bidding meetings, and more than 50 of the participating stores will host the exhibition. In 2018, with the distribution of video and the cooperation of local enterprises, we focused on information dissemination, such as the introduction of audio guides and the setting up of information booths. As in 2019, we will continue to communicate information and the enjoyment of artworks as a city of art.
