■ Exhibition contents This exhibition is a photo exhibition by advertising photographer Shintaro Shiratori.
Based on the philosophy of "Advertising is Entertainment", we will exhibit about 160 original photos from Shiratori, who have been active for about 45 years, with original photos excluding copy and design of advertising.
All the works will be printed and exhibited by Canon's large format printer “imagePROGRAF”.

■ Writer's Message My home is a photo studio in Matsumoto, Nagano, but my father did not force me to take over the photo studio. The photo studio was not succeeded, but I chose the job of advertising photographer with the same camera. I admired the posters displayed in the cosmetics store next to my parents' home, and there were seven movie theaters in the vicinity. It is because I was immersed in the world of attractive video.
I love the means of photography that can express my values, aesthetics, and emotions. I have held several personal photo exhibitions. However, advertising photos participate in a completely different vector. In collaboration with staff such as art directors, designers, copywriters, fine arts, stylists, hair and makeup, ideas beyond my own experience came out on the scene, and I achieved results that far exceeded my initial imagination. Concentrate on embodying it with a camera while feeling happy. It's fun to participate in such cultural festivals.
When I realized, about 45 years passed through the advertising photos, and I was surprised that I was involved in various advertisements in retrospect. There are realistic expressions of what people wanted and admired at that time, and the advertisement is a mirror that projects the times. Isn't advertising a historical record in the form of art and entertainment? Unlike just a solo exhibition, I would like to share the joy of holding this series of advertising photo exhibitions with the power of the above staff together with the people who worked together.
It may be a little exaggerated, but I hope that the creators of Japan will feel the progress of Japan from the late 1970s to the present, and that some hints will be given to advertising creators in future advertising production.
■ Artist Profile Shintaro Shiratori
After graduating from Chiba University, Faculty of Engineering, Department of Photography, Shiseido Advertising Department, Photography Department, Hakuhodo Photography Department (currently Hakuhodo Products Inc.), established Shiratori Photography Office in 1989. Since 2008, he has been chairman of the Japan Advertising Photographers Association (APA). 2018 Award of the Blue-Blue Award.

He has received many awards including ADC Creator Award, APA Award, Mainichi Advertising Design Award, Nikkei Advertising Award Grand Prix, Yomiuri Advertising Grand Prize, Asahi Advertising Award, APA Award for Minister of Economy, Trade and Industry, ACC All-Japan CM Festival Gold Award.
