[Ginza Wako] “Manji Inoue White Porcelain Exhibition – Blooming Vessels -” will be held from June 18th (Thursday).

This exhibition marks the 50th consecutive year and the 50th anniversary of this exhibition at Wako.

From June 18th (Thursday) to June 28th (Sunday), Seiko House Hall will be hosting an exhibition of white porcelain by the late Manji Inoue, a holder of the Important Intangible Cultural Property "White Porcelain" (Living National Treasure).

This year's exhibition, marking the 50th consecutive year of the Wako exhibition, is themed "Flowers." It brings together works by Mr. Inoue that capture the seasonal flowers he has always loved and expressed, such as lilies, roses, peonies, camellias, and cherry blossoms.
In addition, the exhibition will feature his signature white porcelain round vases and white porcelain vases with swirling patterns, showcasing his exceptional pottery wheel skills.
Please enjoy viewing the 80-year trajectory of Manji Inoue's pottery making.

◎We will be holding a gallery talk featuring Yuki Inoue, the grandson of Manji Inoue and the third-generation owner of the Manji Inoue Kiln, and ceramic artist Satoshi Tsuji.

Manji Inoue: Brief Biography
Born in 1929 in Arita Town, Saga Prefecture.
1968-Present: Selected for the Japan Traditional Crafts Exhibition
From 1969 to 1976, I traveled to the United States four times to teach pottery at the Pennsylvania State University's Department of Fine Arts.
In 1971, the Inoue Manji Kiln was established.
Solo exhibitions at Wako from 1977 to 2025.
In 1979, he was recognized as an outstanding engineer (Contemporary Master Craftsman).
From 1983 onwards, I traveled to the United States 20 times to teach pottery at the New Mexico State University School of Fine Arts.
1987: Received the Minister of Education Award at the Japan Traditional Crafts Exhibition.
Solo exhibition in Germany in 1995 for cultural exchange (Hungary in 1997, Monaco in 1999, Portugal in 2000, Poland in 2007, Hong Kong and New York in 2012)
Designated as a holder of the Important Intangible Cultural Property "White Porcelain".
Received the Medal of Honor with Purple Ribbon in 1997.
Received the West Japan Cultural Award in 2002.
Awarded the Order of the Rising Sun, Gold Rays with Neck Ribbon in 2003.
Honorary Citizen of Arita Town, 2005
Solo exhibition in New York in 2024
Passed away in July 2025
