Art Space Co., Ltd., which is planning the exhibition, will hold the Ibald World "Inoue Naohisa Painting Exhibition" from Wednesday, December 18th to Tuesday, December 24th, 2024.
■ What kind of world is "Iblard"?
Just as Kenji Miyazawa once called Iwate Prefecture "Ihatov," he calls Ibaraki City, where he lives, "Ibalad." The moment he says it or thinks about it, all the scenery and events he sees are transformed into a fantastical and mysterious world. The familiar scenery in front of the station turns into a vast hilly area, and the wheat fields behind his house turn into golden wilderness. "Ibalad" is a utopia that teaches us that the world can become more interesting if we just change our perspective a little.
■Meeting Director Hayao Miyazaki
A friend introduced her to a publishing company, which led to her holding a solo exhibition in Tokyo. She sent an invitation to the publisher to Director Miyazaki, who attended the exhibition. At the time, she was in the middle of making the movie "Whisper of the Heart," and later she was asked by Studio Ghibli to draw a scene in which the main character, a young girl, daydreams. She expressed the worldview of "Ibalard," which she had been drawing for many years, in the movie, and she was instantly brought into the limelight.
Additionally, a short animated film based on the picture book "The Day I Bought a Star" (original story by Inoue Naohisa) was produced by director Miyazaki and has been shown at the Saturn Theatre in the Ghibli Museum in Mitaka and the Orion Theatre in Ghibli Park, where it has proved very popular.
In this exhibition, we will be displaying and selling the latest original drawings and prints, allowing you to fully experience the world of Iblard.
Mr. Inoue will also be in attendance during the exhibition, and will personally sign any exhibited works purchased.
Additionally, we will also have limited edition new "mini tote bags" (2 types) available at the venue.
■ Naohisa Inoue will be present . Every day during the event, from 1pm to 5pm
(The event may be changed or canceled due to unforeseen circumstances.)
