Konica Minolta Planetarium TOKYO (Yurakucho, Tokyo), an entertainment planetarium facility for adults, has decided to extend the run of its special program "Immersive Planetarium Van Gogh," which allows visitors to immerse themselves in the paintings of Van Gogh, until Sunday, July 6, 2025.
This film first premiered for a limited time in October 2024 and, due to popular demand, will be screened again in January 2025, and is still being enjoyed by many audiences.
Please enjoy this one-of-a-kind immersive experience that makes you feel as if you are entering a Van Gogh painting that spans the entire planetarium dome.
Be immersed in the world of Van Gogh in 360 degrees
The biggest feature of the Immersive Planetarium Van Gogh is that it offers a new dimension of immersive experience.
This film features a number of Van Gogh's masterpieces, including the world-famous "Starry Night" and "Sunflowers," visualized for the Dome, allowing you to feel immersed in the world of Van Gogh's paintings.
DOME1 at Planetarium TOKYO, where the event will be held, is unusual for a planetarium dome in that it is able to project images from the ceiling to the walls, enveloping the 15m diameter dome, creating a one-of-a-kind immersive space.
Enjoy the ultimate digital art experience as the world of Van Gogh engulfs you whole body.
Full-length filming possible
The video is made up of 13 scenes, each based on the period when the paintings were created and the theme. During the 120-minute screening, three loops of about 35 minutes of video are shown. The masterpieces projected as if to envelop the entire sky are too numerous to be seen in one viewing. You may discover something new if you watch it several times.
Enjoy an extraordinary moment as you reflect on Van Gogh's life through the changes in his style and use of color.
During the screening, you are free to take photos, talk, and eat and drink from the menu available at the attached cafe. You can sit down or walk around to watch the movie, and find your own way to enjoy it.
There is also an area where you can enjoy exhibitions and photo booths.
In addition to the images inside the planetarium dome, there are a variety of other exhibits and experiences available, such as "Photo Van Gogh," where you can take portraits that look like Van Gogh paintings, and photogenic sunflower decorations.
Enjoy the world of Van Gogh to your heart's content.
*The exhibits and photo booth can only be enjoyed by those with tickets to the Immersive Planetarium Van Gogh.
Photogenic limited menu also available
A limited-edition menu inspired by Van Gogh's famous paintings that is visually appealing as well.
