The first Roman Gauthier salon outside of Switzerland has opened, and a special model exclusive to the salon has also been unveiled.
Roman Gauthier, an independent luxury watch brand from Switzerland, has opened a new salon inside the Nisshindo Ginza flagship store in Ginza 7-chome, Tokyo. Spanning two floors, the second and third floors, this space is designed as a private sanctuary that can be called a "second home," offering a relaxing atmosphere with warm hospitality as its top priority, inviting collectors into the world of Roman Gauthier.
This space serves as a bridge for you to encounter the brand, Romain Gauthier himself, and the things he loves, offering you the opportunity to actually see the watches in an intimate and personal environment, much like the room he himself stays in in the Vallée de Joux, Switzerland.
This salon, the second of its kind in the world, is a meticulously designed space that encapsulates Romain Gauthier's worldview, featuring carefully selected objects that reflect his unique aesthetic sense and the "uncompromising spirit" that characterizes his watchmaking.
A special journey through two floors.
Second floor: Living room. This floor is designed for moments of quiet discovery, harmonizing with the natural warmth of the Vallée de Joux. At the heart of the floor is a relief map depicting the Vallée de Joux, his hometown in Switzerland. The wall, sculpted three-dimensionally with micron-level precision, directly connects Ginza with the mountains of Le Sentier in the Vallée de Joux.
Third Floor: Library & Furnishings. This floor is an homage to the joy of conversation, the leisurely pace of time, and the shared passion. A large table sits at the center of the room, creating an intimate space where people can sit around it, clink glasses, and discuss watchmaking. Surrounded by the library, this place offers a tranquil haven in the heart of Tokyo.
The purpose of this new salon is to create a space where visitors can truly experience the watchmaking process imbued with Romain Gauthier's passion. From the furniture and objects to the overall atmosphere of the space, every detail reflects Romain's own values, making it a place where people in Japan can gain a deeper understanding of the spirit and story behind each watch.
Salon-exclusive model "C by Romain Gauthier Carbonium Edition"
Additionally, a limited edition model, available exclusively at this special salon, was announced.
Combining sophisticated craftsmanship, lightweight design, and robustness, the C by Romain Gauthier has evolved to an even more high-tech and sporty level with the cutting-edge material Carbonium®. By using Carbonium® in the case, crown, and buckle, this distinctive timepiece, powered by a Grade 5 titanium movement, is made even lighter.
The dynamic fibrous pattern of Carbonium® is expressed not only on the case, but also on the dial and rubber strap.
The carbon fibers contained in Carbonium® are three times harder than titanium, yet half the weight. Therefore, this new C by Romain Gauthier Carbonium Edition weighs just 43g, including the bracelet and buckle. It's no exaggeration to say it feels like a feather on your wrist.
Beyond its visual appeal, Carbonium® strongly showcases the technical individuality of C by Romain Gauthier. With its high fiber content and superior rigidity, Carbonium® achieves a high level of balance between lightness and strength, offering remarkable lightness while possessing exceptional robustness.
Crafted in the Swiss watchmaking tradition of the Vallée de Joux, this watch features a traditional finger bridge design reinterpreted for modern times, finished to the highest standards.
Looking inside the watch, one can see all of Roman Gauthier's expertise in high-end watchmaking in the in-house hand-wound movement: meticulous hand-finishing down to the smallest detail, extremely precise design, and rational structure, all imbued with a bold and avant-garde beauty. Thus, a timepiece has been created that combines tradition with cutting-edge technology, craftsmanship with innovation.
The indices and numerals can be selected from the basic colors of white, green, blue, yellow, and orange, but other colors can be developed upon special request. The RG logo engraved on the crown surface and pin buckle can be coordinated with the indices and numerals and matched to the strap color.
This Carbonium Edition is a limited edition model available only at Roman Gauthier salons worldwide, and in Japan, it can only be purchased at the Roman Gauthier GINZA Salon in Ginza, Tokyo.

Romain Gauthier Profile
Romain Gauthier as a brand
Founded in 2005, Romain Gauthier is a luxury watch brand headquartered and operating in the Vallée de Joux, Switzerland, led by its passionate founder, Romain Gauthier. Raised in the picturesque Vallée de Joux, the heart of Swiss luxury watchmaking, he combines the expertise he cultivated through his studies and work with an uncompromising commitment to haute horlogerie to create unparalleled timepieces.
Romain Gauthier watches take a unique approach to both beauty and technology. They are not industrialized, and they make no compromises in terms of the significance and visual importance of watchmaking. They strive for excellence in each craftsman's skill and are not constrained by time constraints in production.
His vision is to explore new frontiers while preserving a rich tradition and specialized techniques through technological advancements. Watchmakers are responsible for this traditional savoir-faire. Roman takes pride in being involved in this evolution and wants to make the most of what is available now. This is what he considers "evolving tradition."
Each Romain Gauthier watch is unique and unparalleled due to its exceptionally high level of hand-finishing. Regarding the movement, every step, from manufacturing the tiny gears to overall assembly and adjustment, as well as the beveling and decoration of the bridges and base plates, and the enameling of the dial, is done in-house. A Romain Gauthier watch takes months to create its parts, weeks to decorate, and hours to assemble. "Time" is the key word, and sufficient time must be dedicated to achieving the high level of quality required of all craftsmen.
Roman believed that the key to excellence lies in human capabilities. The only resources the modern era can offer are tools, which are only a part of technological advancement. Roman's philosophy emphasizes how important the quality that can be brought about by people who have acquired specialized skills through sufficient time spent training and refinement is.
As a result, his work is recognized for its eye-catching designs, innovative in-house movements, and high-level hand-finishing. In 2013, Romain Gauthier's Logical One won the top prize in the men's complications category at the Geneva Watchmaking Grand Prix, often called the Oscars of the watch industry. Furthermore, in 2018, he received the "Talent of Innovation" award at Les Talents du Luxe et de la Création in Paris.
Brand Founder
Romain Gauthier was born in 1975 in the Vallée de Joux, Switzerland, the birthplace of Swiss luxury watchmaking. Here, he nurtured his passion for traditional haute horlogerie, studied mechanics and engineering, and deepened his understanding of design. After studying precision engineering at a technical college, Roman qualified as a precision machinery designer in 1997. A year later, he began working as a mechanical programmer and operator at a watch parts manufacturer, contributing to the company's eventual transformation into one of the best-performing facilities in Europe.
Roman, who decided to not only make watches but also create his own luxury watch brand from scratch, earned his MBA in 2002, and his final thesis was on a business plan for establishing his own watch company.
After three years of working on his own watchmaking in private, he finally launched the Romain Gauthier brand in 2005, unveiling his first creation, the Prestige HM, at Baselworld 2007. This was followed by the Prestige HMS (2010), Logical One (2013), Logical One Secret (2014), Insight Micro-Rotor (2017), Insight Micro-Rotor Lady (2018), Insight Micro-Rotor Skeleton (2020), and C by Romain Gauthier (2021). These creations encompass everything from refined traditional timepieces to casual creations adapted for the modern age, and extremely elegant objets d'art, all powered by superbly finished in-house movements.
Roman Gauthier's Own Factory
Their own factory in Le Sentier, Switzerland, is a crucial base for upholding Roman's always-desired freedom of creativity. Its strength lies in its ability to manufacture in-house calibers without compromise. Quality is maintained by his excellent team, possessing exclusive materials, tools and machinery, and, most importantly, their own unique savoir-faire. In this way, they can design, manufacture, decorate, assemble, and adjust movements for their own brand of watches. Furthermore, they can even produce grand feu enamel dials in their own kilns. In 2025, this workshop will be reborn, providing an even stronger foundation for the future.
