Daimaru Matsuzakaya Department Store will be hosting a group exhibition titled "eyes" featuring four up-and-coming artists at "Artglorieux GALLERY OF TOKYO," an art gallery operated by the company on the 5th floor of GINZA SIX.

Wherever you gaze, a silent dialogue will begin.
This exhibition, "eyes," is an attempt by four artists—Gekoru, Samehoshi, Shimomura Yuten, and 100nen—to explore the "location of the gaze" as discovered through the act of painting.
The motifs here are not merely fictional forms. They represent a culmination of the artist's earnest perception of how they gazed upon the world and how they translated that gaze into brushstrokes.
The eyes that artists have pierced into their canvases speak for the painter's perspective, quietly yet powerfully piercing the viewer's very being.
I constantly ask myself whether, while we think we are viewing a work of art, we are actually being exposed to the gaze of others that resides within the work itself.
The moment when the artist's "eye" is fixed in a painting and our "eye" intersects, the flat surface gains depth, stirring unexpected emotions and memories. This intersection of gazes is the theme of this exhibition, and it gives rise to a space for pure exchange that transcends words.
In this space where four distinct "eyes" intersect, what will emerge in the space between the pleasure and discomfort of seeing and being seen?

■Gekoru <br />Gekoru creates works using oil paints, plaster, digital prints, etc., with ambiguity and boundaries as themes. In oil painting, he depicts subjects with unclear and ambiguous boundaries using thickly applied textures. The process of searching while layering paint is manifested on the surface as thickly applied textures. The subjects perceived by following the brushstrokes and colors with the eye are subject to change and waver depending on the time and person.
