■ Profile

Open Reel Ensemble

A music group by Ei Wada, Yu Yoshida, and Masaru Yoshida who plays an old open reel tape recorder as an instrument. Delusion of the magnetic punk world where magnetic technology has evolved beyond the reality, he regards open reels as "magnetic folk instruments" and plays.

His mysterious tone and musicality were highly evaluated, and he released his 1st album from the label presided over by Ryuichi Sakamoto, and was in charge of the music for the show at ISSEY MIYAKE's Paris Collection for four consecutive seasons. He has been highly acclaimed for his live performance with his unique playing style, and has performed at Sónar Festival (Barcelona, Spain) and Ars Electronica (Linz, Austria).

In recent years, he has been known for his collaboration with "Zutomayo", and has appeared in concerts as a member playing a mysterious open reel instrument. While changing the form and organization from time to time, he continues his activities by exploring new possibilities for open reels every day.
